About Me

I've just graduated from the University of Cincinnati and am pursuing my career in education! I have a wonderful partner whom goes lots of places with me. I am very into social justice initiatives and am extremely passionate about racial justice, and activism involving the LGBTQ community.

I attend conferences pretty frequently and speak on my research. I love to travel but don't have much money to (this is where CS comes in)!

Favorite places:

San Diego, CA
Beijing, China
Chicago, IL
Anywhere tropical

I plan to teach in an inner city, low income high school when I graduate. I enjoy deep intellectual conversations, coffee and helping others find importance in human experience and conversation. I love adventure and plan to fill my life with it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to meet people across the world and not stay in a hotel. I want to stop travelling and staying in hotels that have no emotional or intellectual reward - I want to stay and learn about other people across the world and have conversations that I will remember forever, that's why I travel. I want to make connections and be a resource for others to know the city that I am connected to as well as learn about them and where they host (if they do).

Interests

I do spoken word poetry, and write strongly worded blogs and I'm pretty funny. I wanted to be a stand up comic for a really long time. I love learning (I guess that's why I'm a teacher). My students mean everything to me and I would do anything to ensure that they always feel my love and support.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Stone Butch Blues by Leslie Feinburg, The Ethical Slut by Dossie Easton and Janet W. Hardy, Maud Martha by Gwendolyn Brooks, The Freedom Writers Diary by a compiled work of students, my poetry, and anything that makes me
think critically about my identities and the space I take up in the world.

Music: Angel Haze, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Janis Joplin, Jackson 5, Drake, any artists my students suggest, and Jesse Thomas.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've presented at 7 conferences. I've kept young kiddos interested in learning during exam week.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to teach the world about my experiences and why they mean so much. I want to learn about the people I interact with through Couchsurfing and share experiences with them to tell my students, and those I interact with. I want to live a fulfilled life full of new people and life long friends.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a fantastic cook, and love to bring gifts (just tell me what you would like). If you don't request anything I will bring a very nice note showing my appreciation. I can bring meaningful gifts that will make you smile. Maybe poetry. Once I get to know you I could write something pretty fancy.

I also believe that if you welcome me into your home, I bring something to sustain your Couchsurfing or a gift, at minimum!
