ABOUT ME

We are Daniel and Megan Nielson. We live in Portland, Oregon with our two cats and one dog. We enjoy lots of outdoor activities like camping, swimming, and hiking.

In our free time we enjoy:

Hanging out with friends
Going to the movies
Going wine tasting
Beer tasting at a local brewery
Jet Skiing
Camping
Biking
Competing in races (running, cycling, triathlons)

PHILOSOPHY

I feel life is a journey most people are to scared to take, and most people will use any excuse not to live life. There are many times in ones life that one has a great opportunity to really do something great, or travel somewhere far away that one always wishes they could see, but never takes the chance. I have always strived to live my life and take every opportunity that comes my way.

We originally joined couchsurfing because we were planning our 2 month long backpacking trip through Europe. We were able to host some people before we left and surfed in France and Belgium while we were traveling. Since then, we've hosted quite a few people and really enjoy it!

We also know how expensive traveling can be but we very much believe that everyone should have the opportunity to travel.

***We ask that only travelers request to stay with us. If you are moving to Portland, welcome! and we wish you the best of luck, however, we are not hosting people who are moving here and need a place to stay.**

We like to spent our weekends backpacking new trails and exploring the pacific NW. We also love mountain, road biking, and running. Boating and jet skiing are some of our favorite things on the many lakes and rivers around. On our down time we enjoy going out with friends for a couple drinks and some good conversation.

I have been just about everywhere in the states, I've hitch hiked thousands of miles and slept on my far share of benches and off the side of the road in a tent. But to try and say one amazing thing I have seen must be while I was young traveling thru Denver Colorado. I woke up while camping in the rockies in the middle of the night and saw the bright night stars that covered the sky like nothing I have ever seen. for some reason that has always stuck with me, to this day I have not seen anything like it.

We know the portland area well and love trying new food and places around. So we can share with you the best/most interesting places to eat/drink in town! Depending on the day and what else we have going on we love to spend time with our guests sharing stories and take them to a couple of our favorite places.
