About Me

After spending the last 10 years traveling for work, and finding myself recently single for the first time in my adult life, I've decided it's time to broaden the horizon and travel for more than just work, and set my eyes abroad. (And please, just because I'm single doesn't mean I'm looking to hookup- this isn't Tinder)

My home is in Utah, where I was born and raised. My first career was as a sports massage therapist, working and traveling with the US Olympic Speedskating team. After 8 years, I closed my practice and moved into my current job as a Project Manager. I'm lucky as it allows me to work remotely, and I still get to travel for work and for fun.
My non-professional side: I'm also the lead singer in an electronic band, and draw pencil portraits as well.

I currently live with my brother, my Maine Coon cat, and our Siberian Husky dog - I love animals! I even spent two months hopping around San Francisco, dog sitting for random people (dogvacay.com), staying in their homes 4-5 days at a time while they vacationed (couch surfing with responsibility! ha!). That was a fun experience, and one I will definitely repeat. So I may be new to the CS site, but definitely not new to couch surfing.

Feel free to check out my Facebook page, and/or follow me on my newly created travelblog.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on couchsurfing because I've decided to travel solo more. I'm a nomad at heart, and for the first time have the freedom to finally stretch my reach and get away.
Traveling and experiencing the world alone sounds great - but doing it while meeting locals and amazing people in the process sounds better!
If there is one thing in this world worth having, it's friends. Each and every time I embark on a new journey to an unknown location I try to make friends as soon as possible because they know the area and they usually have some pretty cool stories to tell.
I try my best to immerse myself into not only every culture I come into contact with, but I try to immerse myself into life itself. In order to do that...I have to embrace the human experience in its entirety. A big part of the human experience, in my opinion, is by meeting new people and getting to know them through genuine relationship building.
I truly feel that strangers are just friends we haven't met yet.

Music, Movies, and Books

Electronic music is my go-to, but I love all varieties, with the exception of most country. Music is the beat of my heart and the color of my soul.
And fair warning- if I know the song, you can guarantee I'll be singing along and probably not even realize it.

I fell in love with the movie "How to be Single". It came out the same week I went through my divorce, and helped me look forward to being single. It's actually a large reason I started globe-trotting.
The 5th Element is an all-time favorite, though. Along with Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, Legend, Goonies.... yup, I'm an 80's kid.
Obviously I can't forget about Star Wars... goes without saying.

I really enjoyed the Book of Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harnkness, and the Red Rising series by Pierce Brown.
I mostly prefer fantasy, sci-fi and fiction, but have found myself immersed in many non-fiction and self-help books as well. Women Who Love Too Much by Robin Norwood helped me discover my inner strengths as an individual and break free from my own bindings.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a bit of a 'Jack of all trades' kind of girl. I love to share the experiences and knowledge I've gained, but love to learn more than anything. If my time as a Massage Therapist taught me anything, it would be listening and learning everything I can.
And obviously, as a professional massage therapist (keyword: professional...not the other kind) - I'd be happy to teach and share my trade in exchange for a space to rest my head.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Although I am only 34 years old, I have been through more experiences (good and bad) than most people go through in their entire life. These experiences have given me the ability to open my eyes, arms and heart to any and all types of people in order to create an empathetic connection.
