About Me

Hello!

I'm a lively 28 year old Pennsylvanian who's just returned to living in America after almost three years abroad. I'm engaged to a great guy who I met in an art class in college. We taught abroad together as well! I'm definitely a textbook jack of all trades. Hopefully a master of at least one, heh.

I'm all for adventure and following spontaneous opportunities to learn and grow while helping others out. Friends consider me pretty outgoing. I deeply value a great conversation. It's the simple things, right? I'm curious about the world and other people. I think it's rewarding to see how other people live and what matters to them.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've spent a long time living away from America and in that time I've come to realize how diverse it is as a country (geographically, socially, and beyond). I've also come to realize how much I don't know! I've resided in a handful of states as a kid but there are still huge landmarks and states I've never seen. Can you believe I've never been to the Grand Canyon? EDIT: **I have since been there!**

I'm couchsurfing because I want to learn from others, and I want to spend time finding out what makes people happy within their community. I want to see the local gems and I'm happy to go with a new friend or alone. I hope to give back in whatever ways I can.

Interests

Interests sections are impossibly difficult, but I'll try.

Learning- for sure a lifelong learner. What passionately interests you, interests me.

Art, education, live music, comedy (Louis CK anyone?), hiking, science, reading, autism therapy (I've worked in this field), theatre (I've acted, and I've been on the tech side), sharks and the ocean, culture, writing, music videos, movies, and short films. This list goes on infinitely inward. I have a cat and I love animals. I've worked with children extensively and I think that I've learned much more from them than they have from me.

I don't know much about sports but I do like to play them, although I'm not very good. I'm trying to do Yoga in the morning.

Lately I'm interested in learning about tech, business, and economy- because I don't know much about them and I want to.

Music, Movies, and Books

I promise I'm not a pretentious music snob, and if you are I won't judge you or let on. I truly (madly deeply) enjoy music. I've seen almost all of my favorites live, like Radiohead, Nell, Matisyahu, Bright Eyes, Brand New, RHCP, Bjork, and so on. I spent all of high school and college shoulder deep in live music. Lately I've been really into Hozier, The Black Keys, and Lana Del Rey- but I'll still dance to random silly songs on the radio. My dance threshold is zero- if there's music on I'm moving.

Horror, Spies, Documentaries, Deep films that make me think or cry, Comedy (My Cousin Vinny), Not that into action movies but Mad Max was excellent.

I love to read and I could build a small temple from my collection. What's a Kindle?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

You know that little chunk of islands that Japan and Korea are always fighting over? Less than 1% of Koreans have ever been there. Japanese Citizens are forbidden.

It's called Dokdo Island and I've been to it!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can photograph you or for you, cook a meal, teach you how to read and write Korean, share my experiences and travel, play games with your kids, hang out with your pet, watch a movie, or go to a local show. I can teach you how to stitch a book by hand, or a few other random art lessons. I'm also golden for super long walks. I recently walked 20 miles in NYC just to wander, photograph, and meet those around me.
