About Me

Hi, everyone! My name is Megan and I'm spending the Spring 2018 semester studying abroad in Seville, Spain. Originally from the United States, I've lived in Minnesota my entire life - although hope to one day call Europe "home." Back in Minnesota, I'm surrounded by my parents, two siblings, and my dog Tika. I currently attend Indiana University, studying business and Spanish - but am so overjoyed to be spending a semester learning new things, meeting new people, and experiencing the unknown (while on a mission to find the best McDonalds in all of Europe). I love traveling, exercising, spending time with family and friends, and being pushed outside of my comfort zone.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think too often we as humans forget to see the good in people. What I mean by this is that it's easy to be less trusting of those we do not know, or jump to the conclusions and stereotypes that have perpetuated our society.

Growing up, I have been more than fortunate in having parents who instilled in me values of trust, learning, and optimism. They have taught me to see the world differently, to understand that surely, there are people in this world who share those same values as I do; people who love to learn and share, who strive to see the good in others each and every day. Throughout my twenty-one years of living, exploring, and growing as an individual, I've had the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life - different ages, backgrounds, cultures, and views. What I've learned, is that we're all a lot more similar than it seems.

It is because of this, these experiences, that I'm on Couchsurfing - and I absolutely cannot to experience this journey.

Music, Movies, and Books

From Sam Cooke, Frank Sinatra, and Dean Martin, to Johnny Cash and the Dixie Chicks, to Maroon 5, Ed Sheeran, and Louis the Child, I like a bit of everything. I've been told I can't hold a tune, but if you ask me, my singing in the shower begs to differ.

Although Remember The Titans will forever be my favorite movie, I'm a sucker for a good rom com, drama, action, or comedy.

Recently have reminded myself of the joys of reading, and have a whole Kindle library of books ahead of me. Currently obsessed with "Year of Yes" by Shonda Rhimes.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Skydiving with my dad is on the To-Do List!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach American Sign Language and American culture.

I hope to learn about your culture and your experiences thus far in life. Especially interested in new languages and ways of cooking!

A positive and energetic outlook on life; I love to learn, laugh, and crack jokes (I've been told this last one is a 50/50 hit or miss).

What I Can Share with Hosts

Along the way, I hope to figure out what I can share with hosts. Currently traveling with an open mind, a (newly-found) spontaneous spirit, and a willing heart.

Countries I’ve Visited
