About Me

Hey! My name is Meg and I recently moved to Hanoi, Vietnam. I'm up for making local Couchsurfing friends in the area and maybe hosting once I'm settled.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I feel that Couchsurfing is a great place to find people who enjoy being open to different cultures and perspectives. In my experience so far, I've found so many great people through this site.

Interests

Now living in Hanoi, I'm interested to meet people who like live music, and taking some arty/ exercise classes (preferably fun ones I'm not up for intensity lol). I'm learning Italian and would like to also learn Vietnamese... So if you can help me out or would like to practice together hit me up.
Obviously, as a newbie, I still need to explore the are a little- so whether you're a traveller or an old-timer here, I'm up for anything that involves exploring the city (or nearby places).

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't have absolute favourites. However, music, movies and literature are big interests of mine. I'm currently reading 'Girl, Woman, Other' by Bernadine Evaristo and it's wonderful. Some of my favourite books include: The Man Who Mistook His Wife For a Hat; Good Morning, Midnight; Wild Swans and A Brave New World.

Movies wise..... My opinions change often. One of my all time favourites is the Bicycle Thieves (An Italian Neorealism classic). More recently, I've been getting into East Asian cinema. I watched Burning by Lee-Chang Dong and loved it, that led me on to some other Korean thriller types. I've also enjoyed watching some classic Japense cinema lately.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I wrote my university dissertation from scratch in 4 days. It is my most shameful creation and I will never show it to anybody. Still, I'd say the time frame makes it kind of impressive. Does that count?
