About Me
I am terrible at describing myself, but for you, Couchersurfer's, I will do my best.
I am fun and laidback, not much bothers me. While I like to have a bit of plan when it comes to traveling, I am open to changing things up and going with the flow. I don't like to live by too strick a schedule, I feel like you miss oppurtunities that way.
I consider myself to be a very friendly person, so as long as you are friendly to me, I will be friendly to you. I love meeting new people, talking and exchanging stories. So much so, that when I worked in door-to-door sales for awhile I found that I ended up just talking and listening to stories from people more than I actually ended up selling (needless to say, the sales job was not for me).
I love to try new things. Doesn't matter what it is (activity, music, food, etc.), I will probably try it at least once. I feel like there's so much in the world that I still need to experience that not trying something once would be a waste.
I am kind of a goofy and weird person. I'm definitely the type to like to take a funny picture over a serious one, it just creates more interesting memories. I like to joke around a lot, and I have a good sense of humor (though, doesn't everyone think their sense of humor is good?) Life is just more fun when you can laugh about it.
That being said, if you are the type of person who likes to debate and discuss, I enjoy that as well. I like hearing different views and opionions than my own, especially from someone who will listen and respect my own. It's always a learning experience to hear about life from someone else and sometimes it can even change your own perspective. People are always learning and changing, and I am always trying to be a better version of myself. Sometimes the best way to do that is to hear a new perspective.
I don't what else to say about myself at this point, so I'm just going to end this here.
I'm not the worst, probably. That should sum it up nicely.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My friend told me about Couchsurfing a little while ago and at first I was really interested in the traveling aspect. I've always really loved traveling but I don't always have the means to do so, this is a great way to see the world on a budget, while being able to make friends and really get the more local experience.
While that aspect still interests me, since being on the site I've found there is a lot more to it. There is a while community of people here and I love that! It's great to find such a large group of people with common views and goals and I'm very interested in being more involved. Unforetuneately, being in a very small city with less interest makes it slightly more difficult.
My living situation makes it difficult to accept Couchsurfers. I'm renting and have roommates, our house is fairly full. If you need a place to stay though, I would definitely consider it depending on the person and the amount of time they would need somewhere to stay.
Interests
I really enjoing outdoors activities. I've been going camping on and off throughout the years since I was about six years old. I really enjoy getting out of the city and relaxing in the wilderness. I'm strict about camping in a tent! I've never gone camping in a trailer and I don't plan on ever doing it. I love every camping in every season, summer and winter camping are two very unique experiences that I think everyone needs to go through at least once (I am probably one of the very few who likes winter camping more than summer camping). I haven't gotten to go as much now that I'm working fulltime, but when I do it's still one of my favorite past times. I really love hiking as well and am blessed to live in an area so close to three National Parks and the mountains. Going out to hike for a weekend has been a common past time for most of my life.
I've recently gotten into cooking and baking as a hobby. I wouldn't say that I am a good cook yet, but it is something that I have been experimenting with and working on. Most weekends I am going to be home I will try to pick a new recipe to try out. Sometimes it turns out well, other times it's a mess, but I'm really enjoying it so far! I also love to try new food and recipes. One of my favorite things about traveling is the food! I am not a picky eater so I will eat just about anything once.
I love reading and writing (I don't know if I'm any good at it, but I guess you're technically reading something I'm writing now, so you be the judge). I like to watch movies and listen to music, live music from local bands is even better. I like to hang out with friends and play board games, especially weird and unique ones. I like going for walks or long drives, listening to music and just taking the time to think.
I enjoy drinking beer, which doesn't sound like a hobby to someone who doesn't drink beer, but to people who do... you know. It's kind of a hobby these days. There are so many different and strange types of beer these days that I really like to go out and give them a try. I especially like to try beers with interesting names of labels, half the time it works out and half the time it doesn't, but it's always fun to tell people later about this beer you tried with the strange name. This goes for wine as well, though I'm slightly less adventerous with my wine.
I like volunteering, though I don't get as much time to do so anymore. My best volunteer experiences have been at the local humane society (I LOVE animals) and homeless shelter. As I said before, I really love hearing about different life experiences and stories, working at a homeless shelter is very eye opening for that. It humbles you and makes you very grateful for the things in life you take for granted. It's sad that we live in a world where having food, clothing and roof is considered a luxury, but it really is. The humane society was so much fun, just getting to hang out and play with animals all day is like living in a dream. It can always make you more aware of the poor animal treatment and abuse that these animals go through, but there's also a lot of joy in seeing families or people find a new pet that they will love and cherish.
And, of course, I'm very interested in travel. I haven't gotten to do as much as I would have liked by this point, but the places I have gone have been amazing. It makes you want to go further and experience more, which hopefully being a part of Couchsurfing will help my accomplish.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like a lot of music! I have a couple of genre's that I like a little less, but I still like at least some of everything. My favorite bands/musicians are currently The Lumineers, Bear's Den, Mumford & Sons, Twenty-One Pilots, Snow Patrol, The Killers, and ALWAYS Johnny Cash (though nothing else Country). I have a lot of love for 90's music (I know, typical, but it's typical for a reason) and I adore 70's/80's classic rock as it is what I was raised on. AC/DC was my lullaby. I absolutely love movie soundtracks, classical and contemporary classical music. I will forever love Tchaikovsky and I have recently discovered Ludovico Einaudi; his compostions are beautiful. I will love pretty much anything with a violin (I actually used to play the violin) or the fiddle, and I am also really enjoying the banjo (again, typical, that happens a lot).
I also like a lot of movies and TV shows. My favorite movies tend to be a little more thoughtful, something that you can watch a few times over and get something different out of it each time. I would say my all-time favorite movies are The Lion King, Big Fish, Garden State, Interstellar (space! I love space things!), and others that I can't currently think of! There are a lot though, I like movies. For TV shows, I really love comedies. The IT Crowd and Parks and Recreation are perfect shows, I love every single episode of each of them. For more serious shows, I'm really loving Peaky Blinders and I watch Game of Thrones. I like a lot of the netflix shows that have been coming out. Daredevil and Jessica Jones were awesome, and I also really enjoyed Sense8.
Books, there are so many. I love reading. I would have to say that my favorite book is still The Hobbit. I love Lord of the Rings and Tolkien's whole world there (also, the Lord of the Rings movies were great, The Hobbit... not so much). I like Harry Potter a lot too, I own and have read all the books. There are lots of others but those are the ones I go back and read a lot. Also, To Kill a Mockingbird - I read that one a lot too. Currently, I am reading The Black Count by Tom Reiss, which is a biographical novel about Alexandre Dumas's father (a general in Napoleon's army during the French Revolution), who was the inspiration for Dumas's novel The Count of Monty Cristo.
