About Me

I am Metis (Indigenous), Polish, Scottish, and Swedish ☺️

I live my culture. I practice it each day. I work on healing and spirituality.

I’ve began a masters in Peace and Conflict Studies and am writing a book on creation processes from a spiritual/traditional/respectful perspective.

I have enjoyed Couchsurfing and am best friends with one of the first people I met on here. I love when strong connections and friendships are built.

I like to give what I can. Food/a meal (I love a good snack plate), a spiritual/Indigenous worldview.

I love cities that are made for everyone, smaller places, and the middle of nowhere. I don’t care for the tourist things so much.

I enjoy journalling at cafes and before bed, walking to explore the city, finding natural spots, parks, and beautiful views, attending musical events when it fits in the budget, and watching the sunset.

I sometimes cook at “home” and often have snacks in my bag. I also love finding restaurants and cafes with a nice ambience; very earthy, very elegant, very beautiful. I love when a place has piano music.

I'm respectful of others and I can keep a conversation going easily. I try to be quiet when it is needed (like at night during sleep). I don’t like to disturb people.

I am in the midst of starting a business that helps change systemic racism. A journey it has been…

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think it is a great way to meet people that I likely wouldn't meet otherwise. I have really enjoyed learning about others' cultures and have especially enjoyed the great food! I like cooking for others too.

I love the ‘future home decor’ ideas I get from visiting others’ homes too.

Interests

Things I do often: journal, drink tea, walk, eat snacks, say affirmations, make vegan chilli.

Things I like to do and would like to do more of: find a nice restaurant here and there and get dolled up, going out for music (at a bar or a symphony/philharmonique), active art experiences, writing books, watching sunset (and sunrise if I'm up early enough), painting, and drawing.

I like things to be fairly simple. I'm the kind of person who may do some tourist things, but not usually. I really like the local feels of a place.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love soft / gentle instrumentals. I also enjoy Taylor Swift, older country, and some of the new pop - but it's hit and miss.

Because I read so much for school, I generally gravitate towards audiobooks and they're on self-development. Long ago, I loved reading Harry Potter and Neil Gaiman's Ocean at the End of the Lane.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Learned/learning about my culture, one that many believe to not exist anymore, and to learn that worldview and walk with it everyday. I pray for the people and land everywhere I go ❤️

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to help in the ways I can. Sometimes that means sharing my culture with others in the ways I can and in ways that may help their own life. I teaching self-love from an Indigenous perspective. I also teach about identities and spirituality.

I enjoy sharing in a good way.

I love to share travel tips, experiences, and knowledge that is beneficial.

I enjoy sharing good food as I am able :)

I enjoy having grounded conversations about emotional healing.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I always enjoy helping in the ways I can and this is different for everyone. Sometimes I give things from my culture. If you have painting supplies (acrylic paint, paint brushes, and something to paint on) I would love to paint something for you in a style that comes from the Anishinabe culture in what many call Canada (Many also call it turtle island).

I love to make a nice meal and this is my primary way of giving back.

Sometimes what I share may be helpful conversations on healing, sometimes it may be washing dishes or making snack plates.

*******If there is something you expect on your end from me, I hope you let me know. Communication is very important to me. I can’t read minds. So please tell me expectations.
