ABOUT ME

I never know what to say in these 'about you' boxes. I'm pretty sure nobody wants to know 'all' about me, because, hell, most of my life is spent sleeping, eating, working or in lectures - and (for the logic-appreciating folk about) no, those aren't exclusive or-s. I guess I like to think of myself as being fairly optimistic, friendly, easy to get along with and all that. I'd like to be a little braver and more adventurous than I am, I guess I can be pretty timid in a lot of ways. And loud and obnoxious in every other, of course. Um. I laugh really easily. Like really, really easily. Properly unfeminine belly laughs and the lot, at all kinds of silly jokes. If you could introduce me to a few new ones, that'd be amazing.

PHILOSOPHY

I guess I believe that you should make the most of any opportunity that comes your way, and try as many different things as possible!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I generally host and lived in a house with a hoster, though I plan on surfing this summer.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm fairly new to couchsurfing, but I have occasionally hosted and I lived with a regular hoster.

Interests

I'll try anything once. I love being out, being active, moving around, anything - sitting still is not one of my talents. For some reason, this means I chose to study Computer Science. Figures.

At the moment I'm into indoor bouldering and I'd be more than happy to take a guest along. When I'm at home I do a lot of horse riding, I hike where I can, and will generally throw myself at anything.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to most music. I tend towards general rock, but I'm starting to get into folk, dance, and whatever people fancy blasting into my ears!

I don't watch that many movies, really, I guess anything action-y or adventure-y suits me just fine! I'm a big fan of both Disney and Studio Ghibli, if that helps.

I read books, generally, to escape the world - I love fantasy fiction, Robin Hobb is my go-to author, but I also like Trudi Canavan and Brandon Sanderson. I'm reading George RR Martin's Game of Thrones at the moment, so no spoilers please! When I'm not reading fantasy, gothic literature is my next choice - I really enjoyed Phantom of the Opera, Frankenstein, Dracula, Dr Faustus, Jekyll and Hyde...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I took an ex-racehorse for a gallop down Redcar beach one time.

I've met Santa. The real one, in Lapland. Twice.

I recently started bouldering and could probably teach you the basics of that - other than that, I'll probably never run out of horsey anecdotes.
