About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To explore as much of Europe as possible in the span of one year. Readysetgo!

ABOUT ME

Friendly, sarcastic, witty, easy-going, and maybe even kind of intelligent. Depends on who you ask though :-P

PHILOSOPHY

They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself - Warhol

"Selfishness is not living as one wishes to live; it is asking others to live as one wishes to live. And unselfishness is letting other people's lives alone, not interfering with them. Selfishness always aims at uniformity of type. Unselfishness recognizes infinite variety of type as a delightful thing, accepts it, acquiesces in it, enjoys it" - Oscar Wilde

Decide that you want it more than you are afraid of it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Just moved back to California for a bit and gearing up for European Adventures Round Two. Hoping to actually utilize couch surfing this time!

Interests

I love singing and (attempting to) play guitar/piano. Also cooking, baking, and nearly anything having to do with food (especially wine, tea, whiskey, vegetarian cooking, and pastries/cakes/cookies). I enjoy running, hiking, bouldering, and yoga (although I don't do nearly enough of it) and also theatre (especially musical theatre), photography, and writing. I love going on adventures and exploring new places and cultures!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-Jumping off a 50ft cliff into a reservoir in Boulder, Colorado
-Getting to sit in on the rehearsals for the Tony Awards in New York, sitting in the Orchestra section for the awards, and attending the gala reception afterwards. So awesome.
-Exploring snow caves on Mt. Hood in Oregon. Also pretty much everything I did in Portland (I'm kind of in love with that place)
-Getting a tour of a tiny mezcal distillery in Oaxaca, MX, after our bus randomly broke down right outside of it. Also attempting to speak Spanish with adorable children there. Also eating chapulinas and washing them down with mezcal.
-The food and the espresso in Italy. And the gelato.
-Living in Dublin for a year. I was going to try to pick one defining experience from that, but there were too many.
-Having my first Thanksgiving outside of America and away from my family in London with some of my best friends from uni and other awesome people.
-Hiking in Interlaken, Switzerland
-Having an adorable old man in Napoli give me a ride to the airport on his scooter
-Hiking through Valle delle Ferriere on the Amalfi Coast in Italy, having dinner and gelato on the beach, and then riding on a scooter back along the Amalfi Coast to Sorrento under the stars.
-Swimming in Loch Ness in Scotland and then celebrating with (several) whiskies
-Climbing the 14,000+ ft Handies Peak in Colorado

Teach, Learn, Share

I know how to cook/bake a lot of things, kind of how to surf, how to play a bit of guitar and piano, how to sing, and how to do latte art. I love discussing differences in cultures and anything relating to food, musical theatre, or human psychology. My favourite things to learn from other people are how to make new foods/cocktails, but honestly I love learning about any sort of new thing. I especially love going on outdoor adventures of any sort (climbing, hiking, sailing, skating, surfing, or whatever. I'll try just about anything).
