ABOUT ME

Hey! My name is Megan and I'm a student from Scotland, currently studying English literature and Arabic at the University of St Andrews. I absolutely love to travel, and have spent my university summers doing some weird and wonderful things; volunteering on a very basic organic farm in rural Bulgaria, working as a horse riding instructor in America and working as a shot girl in a club Ayia Napa (don't know how this happened), living in a caravan in the Netherlands etc. Right now I'm working on in Amersfoort, just outside the Netherlands, and looking for a place to stay in Amsterdam for a few nights before I fly back to Scotland 'm friendly, sociable and love meeting new people and spending time working in a new country, rather than seeing the place from outside my hotel window. I'm open minded, liberal and adventurous!

PHILOSOPHY

To live my life to the full, to enjoy my life, to see everything and experience the out of the ordinary, to meet loads of people who can be my teachers and help me to expand myself. To meditate, to be mindful, to live sustainably, to be a good listener and to put people around me at ease.

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm a surfer just now as I'm in Holland, but would be happy to host when I'm back in St Andrews, Scotland in September (the home of golf; why wouldn't you want to come?) This is my first time couch surfing so would love to meet someone who will put me at ease and is like minded!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't couchsurfed before but have done a lot of things on workaway and WWOOF, which in many ways are similar as they involve being put up by strangers ! I also lived with a girl that I met on Craigslist in Paris which turned out to be a match made in heaven and we are friends to this day, so I definitely feel like I am ready for couchsurfing! Have loved actually living with locals wherever I go; they give the best advice and experience of the country!!

Interessen

Dancing, practicing languages (Arabic and French), surfing, yoga, writing (hope to be a published novelist in the future), reading, going out and having a laugh. Oh and BEER!! I am something of a beer fanatic (loving Holland on this front).

Musik, Filme und Bücher

I love reading and study English Lit at uni as well as Arabic, A Million Little Pieces and My Friend Leonard by James Frey are firm favourites. I adore Virginia Woolf so if you are a fan then I'M YOURS! Also a fan of Beat generation American literature; Kerouac and the likes. Just read The Great Gatsby for the first time (shocker!) whilst in the Netherlands, trying to read a lot of classic literature whilst I'm at university.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

I worked in a Scottish themed bar in Paris when I got out of school which was incredible; I loved putting on my best highland accent and telling people about the motherland. I've now worked on 3 organic farms in 2 countries, learning about gardening and sustainable construction which has been very tiring but amazing. I really enjoyed learning about how to grow and cook your own food in Bulgaria and now again in the Netherlands.
