About Me
Hi! My name is Megan and I'm new to Couchsurfing! (Well, I made a profile a couple years ago but was too lazy to set it up until now).
I'm originally from Southern California, but have been backpacking and living abroad since I graduated university a couple years ago. Right after graduation I moved to Rio de Janeiro for 9 months to teach English, then taught for 6 months in Lima, Peru, and am now backpacking Southeast Asia for 6 months.
I have a travel blog and do freelance writing and blog work as I travel, now just teaching English as a volunteer. I'm a budget traveler (being a freelance writer will do that to you), but meeting new people is my favorite part of traveling...So let's hang out!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Travel is all about the people!
I'm in Asia for 6 months and would love to meet fun people. Travelers, ex-pats, locals, anyone
I backpack with minimal plans...the spontaneous and unexpected moments are always the best. Hopefully Couchsurfing will be a great way to meet different types of people around the world to make new amazing memories with.
Interests
Food, exploring new places, new friends, old friends, netflix, dancing, music, yoga, more food, creativity, coffee, cooking, writing, baby animals...Always down to go out and have an adventure.
I'm always trying to seek out new experiences, leave my days and plans empty and see where it takes me.

Music, Movies, and Books
"Everything" is the worst answer but my music taste is pretty broad. Indie, electronic, classic rock, salsa, samba, hip hop, even some horrible but catchy top-40 if I'm a couple beers in and shameless enough to admit it. I love finding new music.
The best books are the ones I can bring on a trip and reread and love more every time. Right now I'm traveling with some old-school David Sedaris, Pico Iyer and Anais Nin.
Teach, Learn, Share
I've been teaching English for a couple years and love teaching! Cooking. Advice on travel writing. I can help with a lot of random things...
I document everything from my trips so I can be a great resource on anywhere I've been (25 countries now).
I'll keep you company!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Plenty of travel knowledge... As I'm currently traveling I don't have a couch to share, but you'll always have somewhere to stay wherever I live next! (Some awesome city in the USA, hopefully).
Always down to explore and hang out
