My name is Meg, I'm 24, Scottish, and have just moved back to Oxford from Edinburgh. I would really like to meet up with people to go to the theatre, to the cinema, museums or whatever. Or even just for a drink and a chat!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

No proper experience yet! I signed up to couchsurfing when I was living in Amsterdam and met lots of cool people then. I've been really distracted while living in Edinburgh so never really got the whole hosting thing off the ground. I plan on changing this now that I'm settled in Oxford. :-)

Movies: The Sacrifice, Fanny and Alexander, Russian Ark, Jules et Jim, Magnolia, The Master, Local Hero, Gregory's Girl, Roman Holiday, The White Ribbon, Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors. I could go on for a while...

Books: I wouldn't even know where to start! Erm...authors include Virginia Woolf, Lewis Grassic Gibbon, Sorley MacLean, Jane Austen, Hjalmar Soderberg, Murasaki, Akhmatova, Rilke, Tove Janson, George Eliot, Richardson, Tarjei Vesaas etc and so on and so forth.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Many, many amazing things which happened in the most ordinary circumstances. Most recently, in the north of Scotland at 2am, climbing up into the hills to find a hidden loch. Skinny dipping in the pitch darkness with only the stars and a few terrified looking deer for company. It was freezing but also one of those moments where you feel the world reach out and grab you.

I'm trying to brush up my French after 7 years of not speaking it. I'm also attempting to learn Portuguese. Any help with these would be amazing. But I'm quite shy about speaking it...I'm happy to help with learning English in return.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good company! I'm a great cook and a good conversationalist. I love sitting and eating/talking long into the night. I also love dancing.
