About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Run and cycle through as many countries as possible before I take on greater responsibilities in life.

ABOUT ME

I'm a recent college graduate with a passion for live music, coffee, extreme sports, and, of course, travel. I've done bicycle touring in North America and I'm currently cycling around New Zealand on a pink bicycle wrapped in tinsel. My primary sports are running, cycling, skiing and triathlon, but recently I've been doing a lot of rock climbing and slacklining which I've become addicted to.

PHILOSOPHY

There's never an end to learning. I plan on spending my life learning new things every day and learning something new on my death bed. Best way to learn is to travel.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I use couch surfing for cyclists (Warm Showers) all the time and decided I'd give couchsurfing a try too. So far I've met some amazing friends doing amazing adventures (like driving a bus from Alaska to Argentina!). Right now I surf occasionally and enjoy meeting people through CS events. I plan on hosting once I have a permanent place of residence.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None yet! I'm hoping to share stories and experiences with people at all different places in their lives. I also love learning how to improve my cooking skills and would love to bring the ingredients for your favorite meal so I can learn how to make it!

Interests

Hiking, biking, running, sailing, practicing French, Rene Magritte artwork, music festivals, Frank's red hot sauce, swing dancing, slacklining and representing Texas as the friendly state.

Reading, learning new things, drinking coffee or wine with new friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm that person that has to always shake my head no when you ask "OMG have you seen....?" I go to more film festivals than watch movies.

I listen to everything except country music. I have five country songs I like and that's it. Otherwise I create many many playlists on Spotify and love listening to local bands.

I read primarily memoirs and non-fiction. I'm a huge fan Jon Krauker and I read a fair amount of travel books. Recently I read a fiction book called "The Marriage Plot" which I would highly recommend.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Most recently I cycled 4500miles (7200km) from Texas to Alaska as a fundraiser. I've traveled to Nepal and climbed to the base camp of Annapurna and also climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.

Teach, Learn, Share

1) Download Spotify. It is the best way to listen to music.
2) Austin City Limits music festival is in my home town and everyone needs to experience the wonder that is ACL and South by Southwest.
3) Lesotho and Wales have a "twinning" program where they exchange ideas and support one another.

I want to learn French fluently and learn how to fly a plane. More practically than both of those is I currently need to figure out what profession I should pursue, so maybe I'll meet a couchsurfer that can help me figure out that one.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I always love encouraging people to try traveling on a bike and to help people get prepared for trips. I have stories to share about everything from marathon training to skydiving to the time in Tanzania I had to kill a cow.
