About Me

CURRENT MISSION

trying to fit my life into cardboard boxes

ABOUT ME

Whew, this is hard. I'm a twenty-one year old girl, who studied languages at Ghent. Right now I'm not sure if I'll study something else, or try to find work. I am surely moving in with my boyfriend, though. We'll probably have a couch there but I haven't yet told him about my plans to invite couchsurfers over. I'm always very excited about meeting people and seeing new places. I just love it when I'm having a drink with friends and I can start having a conversation with a stranger. I like to walk in the city at night. I try to read a lot, I try to attend as many good concerts as possible, I also like theatre and I did a month voluntary work for KC NONA, who make theatre. I am always thinking about places I should see, now that I am studying my parents consider me responsible enough to go and explore the world. There is still a lot left for me to explore and that's what I want to accomplish by joining Couchsurfing. To put it with a clichéI am trying to live my life to the fullest. I am very curious about life in general and how society works. Passionate about body modification, even though I don't have any myself. Vegetarian, even though I don't judge people who are not. I will respect you as long as you respect me. I want to be as open-minded as possible about other people's beliefs and habits. I love to go running or swimming. I am currently trying to learn to play the drums. I always start writing 'a great debute novel' which I'll probably never finish. I could go on forever but there are other gaps to fill here.

PHILOSOPHY

I really believe in gandhi's top 10 "rules". I really sound a lot more like a hippie chick than I actually am.
But I believe that I am the one in control, It's up to me to make descisions when I want to experience change. I believe in forgiving and trying to let go. I believe action speaks louder than words. I enjoy the present, and try not to worry about past or future. I believe everyone is human. A lot of things go wrong because of misunderstandings. I try to be persistent, see the good in people (I am a living example of naive optimism) and I try to be as 'true' and honest as can be. Without hurting somebody else. Unless I can't. I will not lie to somebody on important subject but I will tell you your hair looks fabulous if you ask me and I don't like it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, not very actively right now... But there's a couch in the future :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have not had much experiences yet, mostly because of my inability to check the internet enoughI did make a pen pal from India, which isn't a bad start I think?

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Chad Vangaalen, Avi Buffalo, The Kills, Queens of the Stone Age, Regina Spektor, Best Coast, Ghost Bees, Misophone, White Stripes, Beach House, Tame Impala, the Kinks, the Beatles, No Trigger, Flatliners, Gallows, Drive Like Jehu, Fever Ray, Avalanches, Radiohead, David Bowie, Sigur Ros, Fleetwood Mac, Queen, anything that moves me physically or emotionally really.

Movies: Fight club, tim burton's movies, disney, machete (i like over the top bloody gore action and mexicans), Tarantino movies, Amelie Poulain, twelve monkeys, so much more which I can't recall right now

Books: Incredibly close and extremely loud, King Dork, the heart is a lonely hunter, kafka on the shore, Hemingway, Marquez, lolita, and a lot of the 'classics' such as 1984, Catcher in the rye and others. I am terrible at remembering titles of books and movies, but I have a nice amount of books. I am trying to read them all. You may borrow them.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This one is hard. I think there's amazing things everywhere. It doesn't have to be a great view on the top of a mountain, sometimes just a simple drink or a talk with a friend can be amazing too. Or a concert that leaves you goosebumped. Or the feeling I get when I go running and I make it back alive. Or maybe - again- I'm too easily impressed.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to teach people how to make my favourite cookies. I guess they are about my best skill. I really enjoy cooking, so I try to organise cooking evenings where I go to a friend's place and make food.

I would love to learn a gazillion languages, learn how to fix a bike, learn to taste the difference between wines and learn how to get up with a smile every morning and last but not least how to paint with all the colours of the wind.

I like to share food, knowledge, jokes, hugs, books, evenings, unwanted advice.
