Tom - Hi! I'm a big and friendly guy (6'6) who loves sports, exercise and outdoor activities. I'm a big team player that loves to get to know people and make new friends. Before leaving for our world trip I was a travel consultant and sold once in a lifetime trips that I am now having the chance to experience myself!

Meghan - Hey! I have a passion for healthcare and medicine having recently completed my PhD in biomedical research studying Crohn's disease, and now working as a freelance medical writer. I grew up abroad and now am excited to have the opportunity to see more of the world as an adult!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We're both living our dream of seeing the world having visited 10 countries over the last 10 months, the last 6 of which we have spent exploring Australia! During that time we've been lucky enough to meet some amazing people, both locals and fellow travellers and have made some true friends along the way!

We love learning about new cultures and experiencing new things (particularly food!). South East Asia was amazing and opened our eyes to the wondrous opportunities throughout this world, all you have to do is ask and be willing to try new things!

We've mostly been staying in hostels or using workaway/housesits and have cared for peoples homes and pets in various suburbs of Perth. When we start travelling again we're looking to try something new and having heard so many great things about couch surfing we wanted to give it a try! From June onwards we plan to spend some time travelling Australia and want to experience the 'real Australia' as much as possible. Following that we're hoping to head to New Zealand, India and Nepal on the way home! We've been privileged to meet many wonderful people and cannot wait for what is around the corner!

Music, Movies, and Books

All sorts really!

We're really into Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Suits, Modern Family and many other TV shows. Film wise we like anything from chick flicks (including Tom!) to action to fantasy - we love watching DVDs/Netflix or going to the movies. Tom especially loves his music and always has spotify on, especially for the 'discover weekly' playlist so he can find new things. I (Meghan) am an avid reader and love books, from series such as Game of Thrones to independent stand-alone books, and am always open to suggestions of what to read next!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Meghan - I was in New Zealand a few years ago and faced my fears and went skydiving! I still can't believe I did it, it was so terrifying beforehand and when I jumped out of the plane but completely exhilarating!

Tom - I've done the worlds highest bridge bungee jump in South Africa at 216m... and I'm absolutely terrified of heights! It was an amazing experience and one I'm trying to convince Meghan to do!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to improve my Spanish as I'm out of practice! Otherwise learning new recipes is always great, and just how locals live and where the best places to visit are etc! Otherwise just great conversation and shared experiences - we're always looking to learn something knew or impart knowledge!

What I Can Share with Hosts

We're both native English speakers if you need help improving your English. I love to cook and would love to share some recipes! Tom is great at sports and used to be a coach whereas I taught swimming. Or again, just conversation in general - you never know what you might learn! Otherwise daily chores, cooking and cleaning, walking pets - whatever you need help with - just ask!
