Sobre mí

Hiya! You’ve reached Fitz. A perpetually curious human travelling along this realm identifying flowers, staring for birds *of course listening for their calls,* walking in green spaces, swimming in any body of water that doesn’t have gators in it.

Growing up close to the Atlantic Ocean in New Jersey, I find nostalgia sitting on the shores staring off into nothingness *everythingness.* After Uni, I moved to St. Petersburg, Florida, USA *not sure what’s up with the app saying I’m from Turkey, I can’t figure out how to change it* and have called it my home for the past 6 years.

While travelling isn’t inherently new to me, Couchsurfing is. I’ve had loads of pals use it throughout the years and decided this year will be the year I do the same. I understand I don’t currently have any references, I will be happy to provide my Instagram to ensure I am human [ish].

I’ve beep-bopped around different project roles across the last decade.
Starting in Tourism as a very broke college student as an assistant to the CEO of the firm. Later created my own department managing a team and organizing + facilitating groups of folks globally. Destination weddings, corporate travel, yoga + wellness retreats. It was a great gig and people thought I was out of my mind for leaving it but I wanted to explore something else. I had worked for the company since I was a sophomore in Uni.
I love finding old postcards people have written on. I found one of picturesque Cape Cod, Massachusetts and decided that’s where I wanted to move to next. Onwards to managing a Historical Renovation project for a 1950s beach home. I found a CraigsList post for a landscaper and after maybe a week the owner asked if I could take over the project as he was moving to Thailand for 6 months. The wheel turns. I helped assist with the Property Rental management of it after the work was complete.
Once the seasonal post was finished in Massachusetts, I headed back south to Florida. I felt called to work in natural and alternative building but didn’t have a degree in it and didn’t get far. I worked a stint in Food + Beverage before taking a role with a Waste to Energy company. I started working in the field *12 hour days* tracking costs associated to routine maintenance. Then moved to a regional role working with 13 facilities helping them organize logistics for scheduled operations and maintenance events. I was the only femme working in my departments here and joined a board pushing for better inclusivity for femmes + non binary folks in the fields. I have been told I am not one to stay quiet in the face of adversity. Not for myself, or others.

I love finding out processes in industries I know nothing about and trying to tweak them to make them a twinge more effective. Organized chaos is my actual jam. All parts of the puzzle in determining what my purpose is for my time on this big ol’ rock.
I took a 1-year sabbatical from Corporate America and travelled through the Mediterranean in Europe and across India.
Came back to The States this January, then worked at a eco center through May and now back on the road travelling. A slower ride this time around. After living in the forest for 6 months, my large city comfortabilities have gone out the window.
Whilst out and about I tend to be a beyond social butterfly *from what I’m told
Whilst at home, I tend to be reading, writing, listening to records, enjoying a cuppa, discussing the curiosities and complexities of the worlds with pals + strangers.
**In search of humans + nature in their truest sense**

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

To talk talk. I love humans and the way their minds work. Even in chaos and uncertainty, why we think the way we do fucking fascinates me. I have been told I often ask why does that work that way. Apparently leads to interesting conversations.
Looking for local folks to provide info on alternative history to their area, queer events, folk punk shows, puppeteers, contemporary dance. Any folks who prefer literally anything over watching TV or being on their phone, let’s chat.
