About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To Circumnavigate the Globe

ABOUT ME

I am pretty fearless when it comes to the world. Preferring to focus on the positive instead of the negative. I am fierce in my loyalty to family and friends and offer help to strangers (and stray pets) whenever possible. I have had some truly wonderful "stranger" experiences in my life and believe that humankind is a wonderful species with lots of potential :). Travel has been my passion since childhood and for awhile, I was a travel consultant which was a job I loved. I have many favorite places in the world, Costa Rica topping the list, with Ireland, Paris, London, Wales, Italy, Germany, Lisbon and New York being right up there too as well as a whole lot of the US as well. There is so much I want to see in the world and I can't wait to see as much of it as possible!

PHILOSOPHY

Do unto others etc. I am a big believer in karma and trying to live a positive life. Paying it forward and being respectful of others. I am a huge believer in basic kindness and respect and understanding t to strangers and friends (of course) and think we are in danger losing that in todays world.
We are also "do it yourselfers" and grow and raise a lot of our own food. We have had pigs and chickens for meat and eggs and I have recently learned how to make my own laundry detergent and household cleaners. It works for us to be as self-sufficient as possible
and feel more connected and in control, so to speak, of our lives.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

If you count college days, I have a lot of experience! At the advanced age of 45, my preferred sleeping arrangement is a comfy bed or air mattress as I have become spoiled and get cranky without a good nights sleep :)......I still have many a friend crash at my house (in the guest bed or air mattress) and I love having company. Now, if only I can get some of them to join CS!

Interests

Reading, travelling, knitting, gardening, walking with my dogs and goats, riding my bicycle, eating really good cheese and dreaming of the BMW motorbike I will get someday to ride across the country! I have such a blast spending time with my family and friends. I love watching movies and my favorite TV shows on HULU and keeping in touch on Facebook. I also recently discovered Skype, what a great idea! I know I am behind the times on that one :) I have also recently started writing book reviews for a local paper and have CSer Adam from NYC to thank for that!

Music, Movies, and Books

I am an avid reader and devour at least 1 book a week if not more. Check out PaperbackSwap.com....Awesome! I also write a weekly book review for a local paper which has been a great experience. I always have at least one (if not more) books going. Favourite all time band is ABBA (such wonderful, happy music) and I am a huge fan of Netflix for movies. The local library is my "church" and I pray often!
My husband is a musician so if you are looking to jam, bring your instrument of choice or you can just hang out and have a listen,

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have done so many things that I have treasured. Going on the many trips with my kids and husband. Bermuda, England, France, Ireland, Aruba, Costa Rica.......Those are my fave times and memories. I also have been involved in animal rescue for many years and truly adore animals and the joy they bring into my life. Gardening and growing my own food, raising chickens, goats, turkeys and pigs has been an endless fasination and insight into their worlds.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to knit, make jewelry, and other various crafty projects. I also love eating great food and can cook a pretty mean meal. If you know of any fabulous cheeses I have never tried, I am always open to trying new fromage.
