About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Regrouping in Seattle before I set off again :)

ABOUT ME

About me... how daunting! I enjoy sports and the outdoors but also arts and culture. I spent 6 months in Mexico and Guatemala last summer and just got back from a short trip to Iceland. Traveling is fantastic, but I also really enjoy hosting people and showing off this very lovely city. I try to travel in the summers and ski all winter. My job is very flexible, so I can get away with lots of fun time.

PHILOSOPHY

I´m against the indiscriminate use of plastics. Otherwise I prefer to be for things, as far as causes go. I´m for the forest, for the mountains, for protecting habitat and animals. I´m for freedom and empowering people. I´m for peace and love and understanding.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've only stayed on one couch! It was the highlight of my trip to Iceland. Now that I'm back home I have an extra room and have been hosting nearly constantly. I love having guests.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I signed up while traveling in Central America after meeting lots of couch surfers who kept telling me about their great experiences. I think most people probably sign up so that they can stay somewhere, but I actually signed up so that a couple I met in Costa Rica could find me when they made it to Seattle! I have had almost universally good experiences hosting surfers in my home.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't watch movies very often, but Willow is my all time favorite. I know...
I read lots of books, most recently "The Omnivore's Dilema", which I recommend. Now I'm starting "Fast Food Nation". I guess I'm on a bit of a food-investigation kick.
A book the affected me deeply is "An Interupted Life", which I'd meant to read again on this trip but left at home.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've certainly been awestruck by many of the beautiful natural places I've seen. I've also been really amazed by the kindness shown to me by strangers around the world.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to teach knitting and crochet! I love it. Really. I carry spare needles, hooks, and yarn with me everywhere.
I'm a ski instructor, which is the most fun job I can imagine. If you visit Seattle from December - June, I will take you skiing.

I like learning skills, particularly practical survival skills and crafts. I'm trying to learn Spanish right now. I'd like to know more languages.
