ABOUT ME

I am 29, happily married to my love and best friend from college. I am easy-going, kind, friendly and consider nature my haven. I love food, dogs and animals of all kind, music, watching TV, and trying new things. I don't smoke or do drugs of any kind.

Two personal questions that have simple answers for most people are unfortunately not so simple when I answer them:

1. Stranger: What is your name?
Me: Mehak
Stranger: Say what?
Me: Just remember "What the heck, Meh-heck?"
(Yup, it works all the time)

2. Stranger: Where am you from?
Me: Well...I was born in Bombay, India but no, I never lived there. I grew up in Middle East, in Muscat, Oman until I went to college in Upstate New York (Rochester, NY). Then I moved to Southern California for a job and now I live in San Diego.

PHILOSOPHY

Be kind and compassionate to others and remember to do the same to yourself too! Love yourself for who you are. Feeling happy is a great feeling, so put in the extra effort, if needed, to make yourself happy.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am looking forward to meeting new people while I couchsurf and even helping out in any way around the house, in any projects, and in any family businesses.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am a novice but hey, everyone has to start somewhere :). However, I have stayed in a couple of different people's houses through airbnb during some of my previous travels.

Interests

Running, hiking, tennis, going to concerts, spending time with my dogs, trying new foods, eating chocolate, enjoying good movies and TV, and not to forget seeing and experiencing new places! :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Documentaries of all kinds, Shawshank Redemption, Office Space, Forrest Gump, Pitch Perfect... there are tons.
However, I am more into TV than movies. Some of my favorites are Breaking Bad, The Wire, The Sopranos, Friday Night Lights, The Office, Parks and Rec, etc.
Music: A bunch from classic rock to indie rock to blues to old school rap. Just some bands include Pixies, Radiohead, The National, The Hives, Interpol, 2 Skinny J's, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, Beastie Boys, Norah Jones, Muddy Waters and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Books: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy, Life of Pi and Travels with Charley.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiked around all the villages around Lake Atitlan in Guatemala and seeing the amazing Mayan ruins in Tikal.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach computer skills (e.g programming), tennis, training dogs, and cooking a couple of very simple Indian dishes.
I would love to learn just about anything such as cooking, gardening, playing a musical instrument, dancing, a new sport, just to name a few.
