About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn and to help as much as I can.

ABOUT ME

From the start of 2016, my wife and I are living near Leuven, Belgium.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have experienced being the citizen of the world for the last 10 years or so. I have lived in five different countries and have met people and made great friends from all corners of the world. I love to meet people from different cultures and listen to their stories, learn from their experiences and broaden my views by looking at the world through their lenses.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had a chance to host few people who visited Toronto for work or travel. We had nice chats and often shared food. I have never been a CS guest, however I surfed peoples couches through my own network mostly in the Netherlands and Belgium.

Interests

I enjoy reading books and do attend talks and listen to radio programs. I dabble with painting and have recently done some wood work. Other interests include cooking and playing volleyball. I play the latter with a group in Antwerpen lately but I am not good at it by any means.

Music, Movies, and Books

The most impressive movie that I have seen is "into the Wild", I found the story of Chris MacCandless extremely touching. Recently, I have been busy reading the works by Albert Camu. I particularly found The Fall and Rebel fascinating. These days I read mostly book projects that are interesting and research work over serious matters that are also fun to read. Examples are The Entrepreneurial state, Creativity Inc., The History of Progress etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My decision to live and work in the Netherlands turned out to be an amazing experience. Apart from meeting my love of life there, I was impressed a lot with the very unique landscape, lifestyle and mind set of Dutch people!

I also got very impressed with the Niagara Falls! It is the most impressive nature wonder I have seen so far. Some other beautiful places that I have visited were:

Neuschwanstein Castle, near Munich, Germany
Hilly wheat farms near Marvdasht, Iran
Vazak village near Noor, Iran
Gross Mountain, near Vancouver, Canada
The lake near Frieburg, Switzerland

Teach, Learn, Share

I have also been practicing shitoryu karate for a few years. Few times per year I have a chance to practice with old friends in Delft. I also enjoy playing table tennis (we play every now and then at work) and squash (I have been recently playing at least once a week with a friend). Since moving to Belgium, I grab every chance to go for hiking and do really enjoy it . If you come close to Brussels and want to go hiking together give me a shout.
