About Me
Hey!
I just graduated from UC-Berkeley with a degree in German. After spending the majority of my life (and way too much money) on school, I decided it was time to take a break and explore the world! I live for sharing great experiences with great people.
I've worked as a waitress, an educator, an editor, and a stage manager. I wrote my thesis on the relationship between German grammatical gender and perceptions of gender in German society. I love learning from passionate speakers as much as I enjoy a healthy debate.
I'm 100% serious and 100% joking, 93% of the time.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
When I travel, I like to experience the culture to the greatest extent possible. What better way to do so than to stay with a person who participates in that culture?
Interests
I'm a huge linguistics and history nerd -- don't even get me started on historical linguistics.
I love food of all kinds! Except beans. The only beans I like are the green ones.
I've never said no to an adventure, and I don't plan to do so any time soon!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
During the only weekend I spent in Spain, my boyfriend and I stumbled upon a raucous Irish bachelor party in a quaint little bar. A gentleman smoking on the street asked us if we liked booze and 80s music, to which we obviously replied in the affirmative. He invited us in and introduced us to the groom, who immediately bought us a few double shots so we could "catch up" with the partygoers.
4 hours later, we had closed down the bar and moved out to the cobblestone streets of Madrid. We danced and laughed and chatted until the sun came up and our faces were sore from smiling so much.
I saw Madrid like I'd never seen a city before. Getting to know all of these wonderful Dublin dudes while wandering the city's historic center made the experience an impossible one to forget. It was this night that encouraged me to start using the Couchsurfing membership I'd had since 2015, to start enjoying the world in this way all the time.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you English, German, and basic Spanish. I love sharing travel stories as well as ways to find the best airline deals!
I want to learn everything. Languages, how to cook, folklore from Missouri, geology, skateboard painting, the history of political thought... Honestly, I'm interested in pretty much everything.
