Hey there! I’m Meike, from the Netherlands. In August 2025 I quit my job as a social worker and started travelling for some months, mostly by hitchhiking and sometimes on a motorbike. I love the freedom of the road, meeting people, and all the surprises that happen on the way.

I’m an adventurous traveller. I like a mix of busy cities and quiet villages, and I really enjoy being in nature or in the mountains. Almost 10 years ago, I started eating vegetarian. This is not always easy while travelling, but I don't mind a challange! 🥦

Couchsurfing for me is a way to meet locals and get to know the country in a different way, and I love the fact that it brings me to places off the beaten track!

Where to start?!
- The Iron ore train in Mauritania 🫢 That was wild!!!
- Hitchhiking the Wakhan Valley and Pamir highway in Tajikistan
- Looking for the Himalayan black bear at night in Pakistan (found 2 and saw them only 5 meters away!!)
- Driving in a rickshaw from Leh to Jaisalmer with 2 friends 🛺
- Couchsurfing in "real life", so basically just knocking on people their doors and ask is they have a place to sleep (works pretty well in some countries). 🌞
