About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Always looking for a little perspective...

ABOUT ME

Well, how do you wrap up one's life/personality in a few sentences? Here are a few facts: I had a job as a chimpanzee babysitter for several years. I drank Kava with some local Fijian villagers. I've participated in the many ceremonies leading up to a traditional northern Indian wedding. I was a white water rafting guide for a summer. I've eaten a lava roasted marshmallow atop a volcano in Guatemala. I've been bungy jumping over 30 times, skydiving just a few times, and am generally up for adrenaline junkie type stuff. I change my hair color and/or style almost monthly. So living life and trying new things is basically what I am all about!! :) :). Love to laugh, have fun, and meet new people.

Luckily I have this awesome job that allows me to travel when ever I can afford it. So I suppose my real mission now is to travel to all ends of the earth before I turn 35. ha ha ha... We'll see how that plan goes...

PHILOSOPHY

I think this quote from Tenzin Gyatso, the XIV Dalai Lama of Tibet who lives in exile in Dharamsala, India puts it best:
"Whenever I meet a ‘foreigner’, I always have the same feeling: ‘I am meeting another member of the human family.’ This attitude has deepened my affection and respect for all beings. May this natural wish be my small contribution to world peace. I pray for a more friendly, more caring, and more understanding human family on this planet To all those who dislike suffering, who cherish lasting happiness, this is my heartfelt appeal."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My couchsurfing started in college when I lived on a friends couch for a month in San Luis Obispo while I looked for an affordable place to stay there. Since then there have been plenty of couches and cool people that have let me crash... I've always enjoyed meeting new people... So now that I've found this site I try and share my couch as much as possible!!

Interests

Pretty much anything outside! I am one of those weirdos that doesn't own a TV, so don't ask me who my favorite 'dancing with the stars' couple is ha ha ha... Love traveling, scuba diving, bungy jumping (AJ Hackett is my hero :)), white water rafting, snowboarding, wine tasting, camping, backpacking, cooking, working. That is pretty much how I spend most of my time(unfortunately listed in order of least to most amount of time spent). Wish I could work less and play more but have oh so many college loans! Now I am just trying to squeeze as much travel time in as possible!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiking to Viashno Devi temple in India. Highly recommend it if you are in the area. It is a beautiful hike and a spiritual journey up to a cave temple that people from all over India travel to when they want something good to happen, or if that something good that they asked for has come true. What made it especially interesting for us is that there are very few foreigners (really, there are none), so we were quite the attraction and everyone stopped us to take pictures with them!

Countries I’ve Visited

Belize, Canada, Cayman Islands, Costa Rica, Fiji, Guatemala, India, Mexico, Panama, United States
