About Me
Meilin is here... or somewhere else...who knows where the wind blows.
I am a pretty spontaneous, outgoing person who loves to make new friends from everywhere and anywhere. I am currently a PhD student in biochemistry at the University of Pennsylvania. Originally from Puerto Rico.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I had my first couchsurfing and backpacking experience in Mexico and it was... MEMORABLE, so much that that's pretty much the only way I would like to travel. I met kindhearted local people that opened their homes and hearts to me. After having this great experience there is no other way I would rather travel.... Couchsurfers rock!
Also even though I haven't hosted anyone yet :(, my sister and her roommate do so I tend to tag along with them and show people around my city, Philadelphia.
Interests
Although during the day I do science (I swear I am not that geeky) in the weekends I love to explore my city (Philadelphia), specially all the different international restaurants. With that said, yes....... I am a big foodie! I just love food, I will try just about anything. I also love to cook and bake but more importantly all the eating that comes with it.
I also enjoy learning new languages, learning about different cultures and customs. And finally, traveling... if I could I would backpack Asia! Oh and I forgot DANCING, music and dancing is a big part of my life since I grew up dancing. During the few years I have in Philly I joined a Cuban salsa dance group. They are such a fun bunch!

Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite music is whatever I feel in the mood for, sometime is bollywood music, others is KPOP, for gloomy days is soft "baladas" and on hyped days my comfortable salsa, bachata and merengue. I love it all.
I am not really a book person since it's just hard for me to sit still reading.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Travel to India! No second thought on this one. It's the craziest thing I have done and one of my most treasured memories. I feel blessed for having been there. I learned so much, saw places I never imagined and met amazing friends. Risky but worth it. This was my first international travel, in just a spur a friend asked me if I wanted to go and I just said yes and just like that I was in India.
Teach, Learn, Share
I currently go to the University of Pennsylvania which is an awesome school. I would love to show you around campus, afterall it was the first medical school in USA. Also I attend a cuban salsa dance class (free) which I'll be more than happy to have friends to go with.
I also speak fluent Spanish and am eager to teach or talk with if you would like to learn. I am currently learning Korean and Japanese.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I would love to share my travel experiences, my language and carribean culture. I can show you how to dance most of the latin social dances and teach Spanish since it's my first language. Also I make killer carribean food. And since science is also one of my passions I can let you know of all the cool new science in genetics happing around the world new.
