About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To discover the world around me! Eyes open!
ABOUT ME
I like sharing stories and experiences with people, I like being around people who like to laugh all the time. I like looking at birds.
PHILOSOPHY
I believe in doing little things that make my environment, my community, and the people around me happier and better. I don't know why I put it like that. I guess what I'm trying to say is I like helping little old ladies walk down steps - true, it helps them out and they're generally really appreciative but its a little selfish in the fact that I'm doing it to make myself feel good about being a good person. Whatever. Buy local. Buy American whenever possible. Unplug your cell phone chargers.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've couchsurfed in Granada, and hosted three so far, but all were in Europe. I also was able to travel for five weeks couchsurfing almost exclusively. I surfed in Toulouse, Paris, Antwerp, Amsterdam, and Kassel (and also visited Groningen, Berlin, Frankfurt, Copenhagen, and Oslo.) Recently I had my first experience stateside in Santa Fe, NM, and it was AWESOME. I had an incredible experience everywhere I went and am so thankful and indebted to all the people who opened up their homes and their couches to me. They were all incredible people and I thank them SO SO much.
Interests
Before I get into interests let me just say this - one thing I am NOT interested in... is dates. Please don't ask to hang out with me if what you're looking for is a date or a hookup. I haven't been contacted by any ladies in.... well, the entire time I've been living in New York so I just want to put out there that if you want some one-on-one guy-hangout-with-girl-alone time while you're in NYC, look elsewhere. I do not want to have a fun sexy dinner alone with you. Under any circumstances, ever. I'm on CS to couchsurf. Not make out. There's other websites for that, I'm pretty sure.
That said, now on to interests:
My new years resolution last year was to discover the world around me. That worked out pretty well and I found a lot of amazing new places and parks and nooks and crannies in this city that I really enjoy. Its been a great experience. I think its been especially important because its so easy to only go on voyages of discovery when you're traveling to places where you don't live, when really your own neighborhood can have just as many exciting things to uncover. This year's resolution: drink more water.
As an artist I'm interested in art, I suppose you could say (do I need to say that?). I have a studio outside the city in an old carpet mill where I make paintings, drawings, and whatever else crosses my mind - a lot of my time outside of work is spent there cookin' things up. I am really into succulents. Bizarre interest, yes. But my windows are full of odd shaped pots full of them and I have been consistently able to keep them alive and sprouting and they make me super happy.
Guilty pleasure interests include reading niche blogs: cat blogs, secret blogs, wedding blogs, basically if you've got an interest and you document it with pretty pictures in blog format, I will read it at work while I'm supposedly working.
Other interests include bike riding (I'm trying to commit to biking daily to work... once its spring), letter writing, cooking and list-making. And drawing makes me very happy. And parks.
