About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learn always and live solidarily.

ABOUT ME

A pretty curious and contemplative person who really likes exchanging ideas, knowing people and walking around. I love languages, music and cinema, but there is still plenty of subjects that interest me. Which sometimes can be difficult to deal with. =)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I always loved the idea of meeting people from different cultures all around the world. I think that the contact with the alterity may help us know ourselves better, which can contribute to make the world better for all of us.

Where I live, I often had the opportunity to meet foreigners and some became dear friends from there - like some Japanese exchange students in my early college years, or the Bolivian girl with whom I shared an appartment in Sao Paulo for some months, or some people from different places in the world that I could meet in hostels and events and so on. And I enjoyed each experience.

As for travelling, in 2015 I am for the first time travelling in Europe and getting to practice languages in loco. And it has been great. =)

Interests

Travelling, music, cinema, linguistics, poetry, literature, martial arts, archery, philosophy, history, mythologies, painting, photography, comics, social issues... the world is full of interesting things! I can't help appreciating all this.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favourite music genres include gipsy jazz, choro, flamenco and classical music, but I also enjoy a lot celtic tunes, traditional instrumental music from all around the world, and still rock and even some pop.

Wong Kar-Wai, Baz Luhrmann, and Anthony Minghella are among my favourite cinema directors, but I also like a lot films like "The Matrix", "V for Vendetta", "The Avengers", or musicals like "Across The Universe" and "Nine", or yet animations like Miyazaki's films or some French features like "Le Chat du Rabin", and several other films yet...

Books include poetry by Jacques Prévert, Wang Wei, Li Bai, Paulo Leminski and others, and prose like "The Process" by Kafka, "L'Étranger" by Albert Camus, "Lavoura Arcaica" by Raduan Nassar, "Contes du pays incertain" by Jacques Ferron, and others as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Tricky one. I don't know if I ever did anything amazing myself, but I sure know the world is fascinating itself. I'm often taken by beautiful landscapes, the spirit lying in details in art and nature, cooperation amongst the most different kinds of beings, and examples of human willpower for solidarity (like the acting of Mahatma Gandhi and Jacques Ferron).

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share some knowledge about intercomprehension in languages, linguistics in general, Chinese writing system and classical poetry, Eastern philosophies and martial arts, and Brazilian culture. Hopefully I'll be able to also share more practical things in the future. =)

What I Can Share with Hosts

My will to be a helpful and polite guest, as well as my will to exchange ideas and have nice conversations about life in general, whether accompanied with a drink or not. ;)
