About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To experience life by traveling, meeting people, laughing, loving, and doing.

ABOUT ME

I left a piece of my heart in Chile back in March 2011, but now I'm living and loving life in the heart of Missouri. I love being outside, camping, hiking, fishing in ponds, meeting new people, going to live shows, dancing 'til my feet fall off, watching (American) football, going to baseball games, reading, and eating anything with guacamole.

PHILOSOPHY

My mom always says, "Melissa, Good things happen to good people. You have to follow your heart and keep the faith." I believe her. If I follow my heart, my instincts, my dreams... good things are bound to happen!

And Karma, yupper!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I want to meet people and share stories. If I have a couch, you're welcome to stay on it. If I don't, let's meet up and I'll show you around. If you're interested in knowing more about my location, shoot me a message and I'll do my best to answer any questions. If I can help you, let me know and I'll do my best to make it happen!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Before I officially had surfed, I was road-tripping up the East Coast (USA), my friend and I were sharing our story with a bartender. We had initially intended to pop up a tent several miles outside of town, but the bartender (who ended up being the bar owner) invited to set up camp in his yard just down the road. By the end of the night, he introduced us to the townspeople as "his sister's from Connecicut." He and his family will always have a place to stay in Missouri (or wherever it is that I have a couch)!

While in Chile I was fortunate enough to surf twice, and both were great experiences. In the second, I met two additional surfers. I also met my best Chilena friend through couchsurfing, as well as tons of other friends through Temuco's awesome couchsurfing network. Just before I left, I participated in the Southern Chile Camping Meetup, and got to kick-it with people from all over South America near a beautiful beach.

It has opened so many doors for me! The couchsurfing experience is untouchable!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A direct example of karma: When I was 16 years old, I couldn't afford to buy a car. My brother was then in college and told me, "Sis, I know how important it is to have a car at 16, and I can pretty much walk everywhere I need to go." He gave me the car he worked hard to pay for when he had turned 16. Just about a month later, my brother won a brand new truck in a drawing! If that isn't a direct example of karma, I don't know what is!

What I Can Share with Hosts

My husband and I live 3 miles outside of New Franklin, about a mile down a gravel road. We recently started a family, and so are currently not hosting guests.
