ABOUT ME

We are currently travelling around Thailand, we love travelling though at times it can be testing. we have really enjoyed seeing how much of a beautiful place we live in and that its really worth protecting. We have especially enjoyed seeing places that remind me of how beautiful my home is, we used to take it for granted. Mel has just finished her degree, a BA in Children, Welfare and Society, it was facinating and she looks forward to going back to uni to study the Early years developmental process. Dan is a cheesemaker, he makes Cornish Brie- we always have loads in the fridge! Were about to travel around Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos and were nervous but very excited too, weve heard all good things about the countries. I haven't done couch surfing before but have heard some wonderful things about peoples experiences along their journeys so we look forward to experiencing that ourselves. Im also aware now that I live somewhere very special so look forward to being a host and paying it forward.

Interests

I love to learn, I am interested in learning Spanish, acoustic guitar, and am currently learning how to surf. I love the beach so much, thats when Im happiest!!

I love to surf and am learning my hardest- though im like Bambi on the booze on the board! Dans a better surfer. we love the outdoors, especially National Parks, we enjoy a BBQ and a drink with friends. We love travelling and seeing new places and experiencing new cultures.

I like to read, we love to watch movies, we just watched Face Off again and are trying to get everyone on facebook to watch it again, its a timeless classic, like Fightclub and Shawshank Redemption! Im a bit prone to the odd 'chick flic' too, I saw the ugly truth in NZ and loved it!

Music, Movies, and Books

too many to list, Dan's the movie man, but I like to read, I recently read Shantaram and recommend it to anyone that can endure 1000 pages, its the best read of my life! I loved Eat Love Pray too, a beautiful story of a journey. I love loads of music, particulary sad disco! Dan's a hip hop head. Weve both become hooked to John Mayer though, he has such a beautiful voice.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

oh in the last year on the road there have so many things I could write about, highlights have to be swimming with a turtle in Ningaloo Reef, surfing with dolphins at Byron Bay, the glow worms and caves at Waitomo, and walking 8kms along the Great wall of China. Superb!!
