Hello everybody! I think I can describe myself as a very reliable, honest and open-minded person with a lot of patience and determination. At the beginning
I tend to be a little shy and calm but as soon as I get more comfortable I'm very easy going. . Grown up in different small towns in Germany, I've always dreamt big of exploring the whole world.
My parents raised me to be very independent, so I think I was already very mature for my age and took school and everything very serious which is why I might be so determined and strong-willed about my future.
At the moment, I'm working as an Au Pair here in the states, that means I'm taking care of kids to earn some money and can travel and explore in my free time. I started this job in September 2014, stayed 1 year in Maryland/DC area, then changed the host family and live now in the Pittsburgh area.
Before I came to the US, I finished my degree in nursing school and can call myself a nurse now. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm new here but very excited about all this! I wanna do it to get to know new people and share experiences, culture and opinions.
It's always good to know people from the local area because you might learn more about places than any other things and people can tell you.
I'm always willed to learn from other people, so I think it is a nice experience.

Interests

I'm interested in almost anything - food, adventures, sports, music, arts,... I love speaking and learning other languages, traveling to new places and getting to know new cultures and people.
I like to try new things and I'm very curious about everything.
Traveling has been always a big temptation for me, even as a kid - I've never been really homesick and liked to go to different places even without my parents.
I'm very social and like to be around good friend but as well as I enjoy being in good company, I also do appreciate some alone-time with reading, watching movies and cooking. In my free time, I like to go to the movies, swimming, shopping, going out to restaurants and to clubs also to dance. I'm im for almost anything as long as I get outta the house :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music is also a great passion of mine, I once used to play the flute in a marching band, now I'm learning how to play piano. So when you hang out with me I'm usually singing and humming to almost every piece of music I hear :-D
My music taste varies in almost any kind of directions, it depends on my mood I guess, but my favorites genres are Rock, Alternative, Punk and Indie Rock.
My favorite artists are for examples: Foo Fighters, Fall Out Boy, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Linkin Park, Paramore, Blink 182, Simple Plan
I also enjoy listening to 80's, 90's and the latest music on the radio as well as to classical music like Yann Tiersen, Yiruma, Bach, Debussy...
Sometimes I also listen to some „harder“ music in the Metal genre like from A day to remember, The Amity Afflication, Bring me the Horizon or Bullet for my Valentine.
The only thing I'm not really into that much is any electro and techno music.

I also enjoy watching movies and like almost any kind of movie genre except horror. My favorites are the Harry Potter series (I'm kind of obsessed with it), The Intern, The Hungergames, Divergent series, Forest Gump, Willkommen bei den Sch'tis, The Intouchables, Fast and Furios series, Finding Nemo, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Disney Movies and Fairy tales in general.

Besides music and movies, I do read a lot! I started reading innumerable amounts of books as a kid and now my shelves at home are about to explode :D As I mentioned – I Looove Harry Potter! So I've read and reread all the books. I do read more german books and have a few german authors like Monica Feth, Sebastian Fitzek but since I'm living in the US I read english books too (Divergent and Percy Jackson series).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Since I started working as a nurse, I think I already made some small miracles happen for my patients - I really do love my work - to make my patients feel better, happier and even recover is a great pleasure for me! Once, when I worked on a psychiatric unit, I even could say I saved a woman's life by preventing a suicide. All this makes me want to even go further and becoming a doctor!

Also the fact that I made it here to the USA from my small town in Germany is just amazing because it was my dream for a long time and it came true!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can talk about my experiences of my travels and work I've done already and share my culture with you!
I heard from many people that they liked the food I cooked, so I can offer my cooking skills and cook you some good German meals :)
Unfortunately, I can't share a couch with you because I'm currently living with a host family here in the states. But as soon as I'm back in Germany and have my own place, I'd offer to welcome couch surfing guest as well. :)
