Hey everyone!
My name is Melanie and I'm a 20 year-old Austrian student. I'm currently studying International Communication in the beautiful city of Graz.

I love travelling, exploring different countries, meeting new people and getting to know various cultures/beliefs.

I'm a very easygoing, open-minded and adventurous person. I like being spontaneous and doing things others would consider as "extreme", maybe even crazy. (e.g. bungy jumping, skydiving, riding a motorcycle).

I hope to have a good sense of humour (it's quite dark, though) and I love laughing. I'd consider myself as quite optimistic.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Apart from getting free accommodation and saving some money, I love the idea of couchsurfing. I'm always eager to get to know locals and find out about the way they life. Especially when it comes to really getting to know a country, there is nothing better than talking to the people that inhabit it.
Moreover it can get quite lonely when you're travelling on your own and sometimes it's exhausting to just spend time among other foreign people, so I'd much rather have a break from it.

Interests

I love sports and like to vary them as much as I can (yoga, going to the gym, pilates, running). My passion is horseback riding, though.

I enjoy going out at night with friends (to the movies, eating out, going to a theatre/art gallery/club). I'm definitely not the "sitting at home kind" of type but I'm lazy sometimes as well.

I'm a bit artistic too so I do draw or sketch whenever I find time to do so.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm an avid reader (especially English authors), so you definitely find Tolkien, Jane Austen or Fitzgerald to be in my favourite authors list. I love writing as well but my few tries of writing something for the public to read, failed so far.

I just simply can't survive without music. My preferred genres are rock, punk and country. I especially enjoy acoustic music. But whenever I like a song I don't really care which genre it belongs to.
