About Me

My insatiable curiosity requires constant feeding.

Ever seeking:
1) connection with others
2) insight from the various geopolitical/historical/cultural perspectives
3) new experiences and things I've never seen before

I adore intense conversation about anything from international affairs to the merits of dessert for breakfast! Can usually hold up my end of a conversation with some tidbit on most topics and my genuine interest takes care of the rest. I'm low-maintenance and flexible, authentic and accepting so people feel at ease with me and we usually get to know each other rather easily.

Noteworthy:
1) Massively allergic to cigarette smoke (Thus, I'll bolt at the first faint whiff or end up very sick.)
2) I’m a pescatarian that’s become allergic to dairy and wheat. This makes my food-life extremely challenging. Sigh.
3) Rare drinker
4) Couchsurfing and Tinder do NOT mix! I’m here for the friendship and cultural exchange. Please reread for comprehension.
5) For safety, I’ve learned the hard way and this is non-negotiable, I won't surf with anyone without references. If you’re new to CS, try some hangouts and make some friends that can vouch for your good character and I would be really delighted to get to know your awesome self!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

If it wasn't for the amazing experience of couchsurfing I probably wouldn't continue to travel. I can stay in cold paid accommodation but I’d much rather choose the warm personal exchange every time. All the tours and castles and beaches become a blur but the smiles, conversations, and friendships are everything!

It’s shocking how often in my daily life I find myself remembering the hosts I met in my travels and what I learned from them. Their generosity followed me home and these new friendships, born of such brief encounters, took care of me when I needed it still. I appreciate them all regularly. They are a part of my heart and have shaped my life. This CS community is made of the best people the world has to offer!!

Music, Movies, and Books

Stand-up comedy because you can't laugh and be sad at the same time. And your body should enjoy joy as much as we can in this big bad world.

Likewise, Angela's Ashes read aloud by its author Frank McCourt is one of my most favorite things. Laughing at absurdity is a great way to manage life and tragedies, big and small.

TedTalks to learn, youtubes of inspirational speeches, and powerful musical performances that bring the soul to the surface.

A symphony heals the soul; I wish I could go every day. I really want to expand my musical world. Please be encouraged to share your favorites with me!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I offered a ride home to a man shopping for Indian food groceries in the same aisle as me at a little store in Anchorage Alaska on a frigid February day. He turned out to be a Bhutani refugee and invited me into his home to meet his family who adopted me into the fold. I spent the next couple years helping them integrate into their new way of life. Such a chance encounter offered joy beyond measure!

Teach, Learn, Share

I realized while couchsurfing around the world in 2017 that my superpower is making others feel seen and heard, accepted and appreciated. I turned that strength into a successful business when I returned back to the US. In any setting or activity, that’s what I have to share most in trade for learning as much as I can about your experience in your corner of the world. Is there anything more valuable than genuine sincere connection?

I’ve traveled through all 50 US states and lived in 15 from Alaska to Georgia so if you’ve got questions about where to visit in the US, I can give you good detailed answers!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Truly rapt attention and deep inquisitiveness!

A healthy homemade meal. I make a mean chocolate chip cookie!
