About Me
Hi! I'm Melanie, I'm 23 years old, blah blah blah blah, I'm awful at describing myself but if there's anything you want to know then ask me and I'll be more than happy to answer! I fell in love with Spain when I studied abroad in Murcia two years ago and after graduating university in the United States I decided to come back here to teach English and now I'm here in Madrid and absolutely loving it!
*NOTE: I haven't been using this website lately but I'm making a conscious effort to start checking it more often, so let me know if you're coming to Madrid and I'll try to make my response rate better than its current 0% :p
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
When I studied abroad, my friends and I stayed with students in Madrid for the weekend and they were awesome hosts, showed us around and brought us out with their friends one night. Told us they'd had 80-some couchsurfers since the beginning of the year...so they were pretty used to having random people crash on their couches/made the experience very comfortable.
Also, my uncle has recently started accepting couchsurfers in Chicago and his experiences have inspired me to update my profile on here and become more involved in this community. I would love to personally host couchsurfers; I have a lot of roommates (6!) so there isn't a ton of extra space in my apartment, but if you're just 1-2 people staying for a night or two I should be able to accommodate you :)
Interests
Exploring new cities, studying language and how it works, sharing travel stories with other people, modern/contemporary art (especially graffiti), learning new information about pretty much anything and everything (anyone can make anything seem interesting if they're passionate enough about it)!

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm not picky at ALL when it comes to music. As long as it's singing and not screaming, it sounds good to me.
My favorite movie of all time is Serendipity and my favorite quote also comes from this movie.
"I think we make our own decisions; I just think that fate sends us little signs and it's how we read the signs that determines whether we're happy or not."
Books- [insert long list of classics here- that's what I'm "supposed" to do, right?]
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've been alive for 23 whole years and counting so yeah, there's that!
(I've also lived in 5 cities in 2 countries during the past 3 years, which I'm not quite sure qualifies as amazing in itself but I wouldn't trade any of it for anything because I'm thankful for the experiences I've had and the places I've been able to see)
Teach, Learn, Share
Yes, this is a good philosophy.
What I Can Share with Hosts
My experiences from living in various places in two entirely different countries, the opportunity to connect with someone from a different background, and language practice if you're learning English and/or Spanish! :)
Countries I’ve Visited
