About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I have been running a pro bono legal services project called Attorney on the Move (www.attorneyonthemove.com) for over 3 years. And I recently moved to the US/Mexico border to be closer to the immigration front line at this time.
ABOUT ME
I love being able to explore communities other than my own. And I feel very strongly that when we are able to get out of our community silos, only good things can come of it. Three years ago for my pro bono legal services project, I gave away nearly everything I owned and have been very privileged and fortunate to have lived in a number of different locations throughout the US. I am so excited to continue my journey and learn as much as possible along the way—and hopefully cross paths with many of you!
PHILOSOPHY
Life is really short—and I am trying to make every moment count. Instead of focusing on everyone's economic value and status, I am much more interested in finding out more about each person's humanity.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
When I was on the road these last 3+ years, I frequently used Couchsurfing as a way to get to know more folks in the community and learn more about a particular place. I heard great things about it from a number of friends, but once I met more of the CS community, I have realized what a truly special group of people it really is. I still keep in touch with a number of friends I've met all across the country, and hope to Couchsurf abroad one day soon.
I also want to give back to the Couchsurfing community and try to host when I am able to!
Interests
Music, playing piano, history, community organizing & lawyering, volunteering, meeting new people, cultures/traditions, hiking, the Cavs, old films.
Music, Movies, and Books
I really like early 90s hip hop & jazz. I also really like watching old films—some of my favs are On the Waterfront; Casablanca; All About Eve; Vertigo... lots more. I also really like fiction, non-fiction, and books about spirituality and personal development. I love talking about ideas.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Traveling and working across the US and living out of my suitcase helped reiterate the importance of community, people, and ideas. In the end, I feel that this is what truly matters.
Teach, Learn, Share
I've been a community organizer for over a decade and like talking about local communities and what makes them tick. I also love playing the piano and am always down for an impromptu jam session! Otherwise, I am pretty easy going and laid back and am very conscientious of others' space.
