Über mich

ABOUT ME
I enjoy being active and traveling when I can. I love playing sports - especially, snowboarding and volleyball. I've recently taken up surfing and have moved from indoor volleyball to solely playing beach since I've moved to HI. I love quoting lines from movies when they apply to the current situation (even if no one knows what I'm talking about.) I grew up in Yonkers, a large city outside of New York City. I lived most of my life there and New York City before moving to HI.

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

I love being part of a giving and sharing ecosystem and I also feel the best way to see a city is to stay where its people live. Hotels are so boring and don't provide much interaction with anyone but other tourists.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

Movies: Anything funny, action packed, or suspenseful/thrilling. I love psychological thrillers the most, I think.

Books: Same as my movies. Anything suspenseful and thrilling or sci-fi.

Music: I appreciate most music but love 90s alternative rock the most.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Back in the early 2000s I hiked a 5,300 foot mountain in New Hampshire (probably the most difficult hike in NH) with 4 rock climbers and a marathon runner. I myself had only been running for 3 weeks and had never hiked before! I was pretty proud of myself. The views from the top were amazing. I wish I wasn't too tired to take pictures and really enjoy it. I want to do it again! (Update: As I hike pretty regularly now, this hike would be less difficult for me now.)

I spent a week volunteering in Tijuana, Mexico to help build "playgrounds" at the schools. Playground is a super loose definition. We literally mixed and poured concrete by hand. It was hard manual labor and it was super hot. The gratitude these parents showed was truly heartwarming. At one location the mothers were so happy and appreciative just to have the tools and resources made available to them that they did the work themselves and told us to rest and play with the kids. Usually mothers would contribute by making us lunch and we would sit as a group and eat together. We attempted to speak to them in Spanish and they to us in English. It was truly an amazing experience.

I traveled to 7 countries in 3 months.

Lehren, lernen, teilen

Be open minded. You never know what you might learn about someone else... or yourself.

Was ich mit Gastgebern teilen kann

I'm down to help with English- talking and sharing the latest slang.
I can also instruct private Mat Pilates sessions.
On evenings and weekends I can take you to more some of the farther more difficult to get to places around the island.
