ABOUT ME

Melo, calm, very interrested to the people, what they have to say and show, easy going when you get to know me... I love travels and being immerged in new and different adventure. I can't stay long in one place...I have to move and see it all... I wish I could just travel around. I really wish to have a plane or a boat one day to travel the world my way and take the time. I just want to meet people from all over and learn whatever they have to teach...

I am from Quebec...and I miss it...but this is my 6th year in NWT, 4th in Yellowknife-the Capital. I really love this place, you need to experience the north at least once in your live to say that you try it all. There is something magic in the north, not just the fact that we have the midnight un during ummer or the Northern light during winter but the nature, the people and the calm and relatively slow pace of life here, it's fun and relaxing.

I worked as a Flight Nurse for 5 years and that was an exciting experience. Just the fact that you are alone caring and treating patient in a small place, in the air it's just a thrill each time. Well sometimes was better then other. Also the fact that you are flying almost everyday, that you see the sun coming up or going down, the landscape that you can see from the air and you're just in another world. I really miss this way of life and hope to be able to go back soon.

I am also a ER nurse. Once again the action and the wait and thrill of having something coming through those door anytime (even you don't wish to anybody to be sick) it's undescriptible...Well Yellowknife is not Toronto or Calgary but we have our cases and if you just think that the nearest trauma hospital is at 2h flight...it's always a good challenge.

PHILOSOPHY

My new resolution is to live my life for me...We only have one life, better enjoy it...travel more, work less; see more often you friends, party with them and spend less time regretting stuff that you should have done! I took this resolution after I hurt my back at work.

Never make time for regrets this way you can go forward!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I came upon the network in July 2007...but still newish to that...just wish to be able to host or be received as a guest soon...

I also want to be able to make people come to NWT and Yukon and see the beauty of the North...

If you want to see NWT, Canada, the space, the nature, the midnight sun...canoe and kayaking the lakes, fishing, hunting or just come and take pictures...of the northern lights and the nature, your welcome anytime...Summer and winter are very different and their is way to enjoy it all.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I did some couchsurfing when I was younger at friend's house, I had to do it when I went to France in 1993 but never really experienced it with this network yet!

I want to discover the other part of the Arctic (so all the Scandinave country, Russia, Alaska...) then I want to go see the Antarctic during their summer!

Norway, Iceland, Scotland, New Zeland and some part of Africa are the place that atract me the most.

Hosting Experience:

September 2007: Almost hosted 2 surfers from Germany...but the weather in the North is changing quickly and a snow storm stopped everything...maybe another time!

Interests

Travelling: My parent gave me the taste for adventure and travel and the respect of other and the need to learn new language and traditions and the history of the place/people that I meet. I wish I could be able to do more travelling. I know the only one stoping me is myself!

I wish one day to do the "Rally des Gazelles" it's a 4x4 desert race that only women can participate in...

Music and Art: While listening to the music and being able to appreciate the art of somebody (painting/carving) you can travel in so many ways and being drawn into that wonderful world of stories and movement.

Photography:I wish I was better, I just like playing and being able to catch expression of people or beauty or sadness. I also love Nature pictures, I have a thing for the mountains, the sun and falls. I wish to be able to take good Northern Lights pictures, they are so great and all their dancing and forms and colors...

Just driving around: I love to drive and don't have a fix destination and just enjoy the view and being able to stop where ever and visit or decide to stop for the night some place I never been...It's kidda hard to do so being in the North...there is not much place to go as there are not much road to drive on!!! But still fun.

hiking and water sport: Just being outside and walking the trails or going in the forrest or being on river and lakes and padelling or not; floating on the water...

Food/restaurants: Just love food of all kind and all taste.

Movies, museum and sightseeing:

Being in nature and just taking in all the colors, sounds and odors...

I love new challendge and adventure. The North right now give me those things and I still have palces to explore even if I had the chance to see all the communities of NWT while being a flight nurse. I wa able to Travel in Yukon and Nunavut. I was also able to explore most of the Canada; still need to go to Newfoundland/Labrador...it should be soon before to see some country of Europe, Middle-East and Asia. I don't have anything plan yet but sooner then later I hope to do like some CS did and leave for a couple months and travel around.

Music, Movies, and Books

Francophone music and movie (mostly from Quebec) is number One on my list... I always buy new album and DVD on line as there is not much here...

I love Ben Harper, Bjork, U2, Cat Empire, Tiken Jah Fakoly, I love Cuban music, Jazz, Ska...I am open at any kind of music...

I love movies of all kind. Classic Movies, Quebec/French Movies. Action, horror, suspense, romantic, comedy...

I love reading a good book, mostly historic-litterature/roman or Quebec litterature. I like some travel book...to help decide and orienting the travel... I am pretty open to anything.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: Ask me and will see...I can drive a snow mobile (pretty easy!), a dog sled. I can skinned animals...I can teach French...and some inuvialuit words! I can talk about medical stuff...I can show you around! I am pretty good with map and directions.

Learn: Everything on everything...Language, tradition and history. New ways to cook. New sort of wine and beer.

Share: All that I can. All adventures and experiences that can happen, planned or not! Laughter and tears; joys and fears...and friendship.
