Overview
About Me
Hi, I'm Melih. I'm 21 yo and from Turkey. I'm not a conversation starter most of the time. I prefer listening to others' stories and experiences but I open up more by the convo goes on.
I'm a student of arts. Currently 4th grader and I originally study in Istanbul. In 2023, I resided in Kaunas, Lithuania for my Erasmus+ programme studies and it helped me a lot with my view for outside world.
I'm more of a homesick kind of person but I'd never deny when it's about traveling abroad since I like meeting different people from different places.
I'm respectful towards my surroundings and not a whiny type unless you are as close to me as my family. I'm not a noisy person, I rather stay off from loud areas, parties etc. and just chill in calm environments. This can be either watching the night sky, having a cozy fire place with friends, a late night car trip, enjoying a nice view etc. I'm more after unique activities that I didn't try so, I can pile up some nice memories for later and not regret.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
This is something new for me, I want to experience new things since I'm abroad after a long time. Perhaps its to meet new people, to hear their story, to remain more mobile in any case.
Since after staying at my new friends' in Germany and Lithuania, I understood the culture of couchsurfing even better.
I want to share the kindness I have received to the others.
Interests
I'm invested in drawing since primary school. At the beginning of Covid-19 in Turkey, I decided to benefit from the lockdown and started to learn photoshop on Gimp and animation on various programs.
I'm a licensed diver since 2022, dived a few times in Saros Gulf. Besides that, I like collecting souvenirs, post stamps, banknotes etc.
I tried boat parachuting once and I'd like to try again some time later. I want to see as many places as I can and I believe this is only the beginning for me.

Music, Movies, and Books
I almost listen to every kind of music from A to Z. Its really up to my appetite of my mind stating "I like this one". Such as from Death Metal to Phonk, from Synthwave to Classical Piano, from Breakcore to Lo-fi or just some random game/movie original soundtracks. It's the melody for me. If the music gives the right feeling, no boundaries will stop me from listening to them.
For the books, I don't read them a lot nowadays but when I do, I prefer history books. Other than that, I really enjoyed reading all of The Maze Runner series, Ranger's Apprentice series, Harlan Coben's Gone for Good, Roald Dahl's books and many more.
As for the movies, I could say Star Wars prequels, City of Ember, Wall-E, Train to Busan, The Day After Tomorrow and Edge of Tomorrow. Well, there are many more but these movies had some nice impact on me.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Lions attacking our safari car because my grandpa thought bringing a bucket of KFC was a great idea.
Witnessing the amazing view from Table Mountain / Cape Town.
Visiting an island full of penguins in between South Africa and Antarctica.
Ocean tours I had on Imperial Cheng Ho cruise ship, seeing the Turtle Island. It's a literal core memory of mine.
Visiting a massive parrot net dome in Singapore.
Driving in sand dunes with jeeps in Saudi Arabia.
Annoying my friend group because I took many pictures here and there, slowing down the group during our trip in Italy.
