About Me

Hello and welcome to my profile! Glad you made it up to here, now let me let you some things about me: My name is Melina and I am a student from Paderborn, Germany. I study to become a teacher in English and philosophy. Last summer I returned from the US where I used to be an Au Pair. I lived there in a host family in Pennsylvania and travelled around a lot where I met some amazing people! I love to travel in general and meet new countries and cultures!
What else can I tell you about myself? Oh yea, you should be aware of the fact that I am a little "tree hugger". I am a vegetarian and try my best to live a economical friendly life which is not that easy sometimes but I am on a good way! I recently started to discover my love of planting plants and flowers on my little balcony.
I also love to go out with friends, have a chilled movie night or go out to party and dance!
I would describe myself as a very open minded person that is always up to a crazy adventure. I love people I can share my deepest thoughts abou god and the world with. I would also say I am funny as long as you share the same crazy humour as me!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

What is the best way to meet people from other countries and find the best spots in the town you want to stay? Yes, by meeting the people in this area. This is the main reason I started couch surfing. I really like this opportunity to travel and exchange travel experiences. I think it is the best way to discover the REAL life in the place you're staying.
I do not have that much expriences with couch surfing but the ones I have are really good and I was positevly surprised. With some of my hosts I still do have regular contact with and would love to see them again.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite music: I listen to a lot of different genres of music actually. One of my favorite kinds of music is Techno. I got into this through my sister and her boyfriend who is a DJ and since the first rave they took me I am in love with it. But in my free time I also like to listen to Reggae, classic rock or hip hop.
I am more a tv show kind of person. Netflix and I are best friends and like a bunch of different shows like Breaking Bad, Shameless, Prison Break and so on.
I really like to read but since I have to read so much in University I do not really read in my freetime anymore. But I love to read different kinds of philsosophical books. The last book I read was "Animal Liberation" which is about vegetarism and speciesm. But I also like to read thriller and novels.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the best experiences I have made so far is my Au Pair year in the US since I was able to collect so many new impressions, saw a bunch of new places and met amazing people I am still in contact with. I can recommand a year abroad to everyone since it changed me a lot. I gained so much more self-confidence and independency.

What I Can Share with Hosts

What could I share with my host? Basically everything that is on my mind since I love to talk about the things that are going on in my mind, about god and the world, about social or political stuff, about my experiences that I have gained in my short twenty years of life.

Countries I’ve Visited
