About Me
Hey all,
I'm taking a gap year to travel as much as money allows and Europe is the first spot. Although I'll be visiting friends from time to time, most of my travels will be more or less solo so I'm looking for other similar travelers to meet up with!
A bit of my background... I grew up in suburban/rural Pennsylvania and moved to the New York City area right out of college. There, I taught 6th grade English Language Arts as a public school teacher for 2 years. After that, I hauled myself out to Berkeley, California where I taught 8th grade Humanities for another 2 years. Since then, I've been working on applying to graduate schools in hopes to work my way up to university teaching.
But enough about the professional life. Other than working, I love outdoor activities and (of course) traveling. Anything from snowboarding, hiking, rock climbing, sky diving, hang gliding, windsurfing, running, soccer, to track and field - it's on my list. I'm not too great of a cook, but I can make an amazing sunny-side up egg breakfast. Pasta and I usually get along well too. And I'm always down for some wine and cheese :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I joined couch surfing to give myself some options as I take on this gap year. Airbnb and hostels are nice, but nothing beats getting to know an area and the locals like couch surfing.
