Hello! My name is a Melissa Birch and I am hoping to make my way all around the world eventually. From a young age my parents instilled a love of travel in me through various international trips to visit family members. Since then I have embarked on some of my own travels and firmly believe that traveling is one of the best ways to learn about oneself and the world, hence the desire to travel as much as possible :-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In short, I believe that the best way to travel is to learn about new places through those that live there and Couchsurfing is a way to do that.

Interests

My primary interest, along with travel, is probably music as I hope to pursue a career in professional choral singing. In fact I have been singing for the better part of 18 years and even received a bachelors degree in the subject. Other than music, I am an avid reader and an amateur hiker.

Music, Movies, and Books

The Harry Potter series has been, and always will be, one of my all time favorites. I also really enjoy A Song of Ice and Fire, Six of Crows/Crooked Kingdom, Chaos Walking, and much more. As for movies I enjoy many of the Marvel films and anything Disney/Pixar. With regards to music I’m not fussy, but I particularly enjoy alt/rock, musical theatre, and classic rock.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have been fortunate to do many amazing things in my life so far, but one of the most stand out has been the opportunity to sing all over the world in various choirs, including St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican, Carnegie Hall in New York, and the Thomaskirche in Leipzig.
