About Me

Hello!
My name is Melissa. I have many interests, mainly all in the arts. I enjoy music (going to concerts), photography, arts and crafts, scrap booking, modeling, nature (hiking/adventures),I love to travel, gain new experiences, meet new people, share stories, write, karaoke, eat (I love food, I suppose you could say I am a "foodie",) I love animals (especially exotic ones,) working out, movies, reading etc. I love staying busy, active, always doing something. I feel nothing happens when we are simply doing nothing. Life passes us by in a flash, before we know it...an hour, a day, week, month, year has gone by. When I look back I like to see all of the new things I've done, learned, new people I have met, experiences had...and then continue to do more. I guess you can say I like to live life in the fast lane, but I always take some time out to slow it down when needed. A night with a book, some tea, music or a movie with a friend is always a great time for me as well. I am pretty easy going and very open minded. I enjoy meeting all kinds of people from different cultures, countries, and seeing the beauty this world has to share because I am sure we are all aware of the not so beautiful things this world is capable of. I do my best to stay focused on the light in the dark moments. I am willing and able to travel alone, although I know it is always nice to have company.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have been a nomad on and off since I was about 18 years of age. Although I am a nomad currently, I pretty much have stayed in the Westchester County for the majority of the time. I am working on becoming a female nomad who travels the world, I hope full time one day. My goal is in about a year or two. I am on Couchsurfing to meet new friends, gain new experiences, gain knowledge from those already doing this and find some couches to sleep on now and in the future haha. I would like to continuously step out of my comfort zone and constantly do more and more things in life that help me to evolve not just as a human being, but as an individual as well.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love every type of music from dance, rap, electronic, synth wave, country, pop, 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's , 90's and so on and so fourth. There is no doubt that I have an extreme love for older music, however depending on what it is, I do enjoy the newer music as well.

I love to read, but this has become a fairly new goal of mine (to read more,) therefore I do not have too many names of books that are favorites at the moment. Two books as of right now that I personally am very fond of are:

1) Tales Of A Female Nomad- Living At Large In The World by Rita Golden gelman
2) The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

I am a big fan of self-help books as well. A couple that I have read thus far that I enjoyed are:

1) Tiny Buddha's Guide to Loving Yourself by Lori Deschene
2) Keys to Positive Thinking by Napoleon Hill

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sky-diving. I find it to be pretty amazing anyways lol
