About Me

ABOUT ME

I am tomorrow, or some future day, what I establish today. I am today what I established yesterday or some previous day. -James Joyce
I am constantly striving to better myself, whether through education, exercise or now, learning patience. :)

I don't believe that all rules should be followed. I was told that management and science don't correlate; I disagree. I majored in management and minored in biology in college. I left Corporate America to persue a PhD in Marine Biology and Genetics. This is an entirely new experience for me and while it's frustrating, it's nice to make your own hours (although its A LOT of them) and to be working towards something bigger. I do miss all of my old co-workers though. Analog Devices was a great place to work.

I like Yankees baseball, I teach swimming (still), I was intending to participate in some mini-triathalons this Spring but I got too busy. I play softball, dodgeball and volleyball on intramural leagues. I enjoy rockclimbing and everything outdoors.

I enjoy a drink here and there, but don't really enjoy getting drunk or going out to a bar to drink. I'd rather make margaritas at home with friends or go to the beach with some spiked punch to watch the sunset.

I am a want-to-be world traveler. I grew up in NY, attended Uni in Boston, studied abroad in New Zealand for 6 months, went to Australia when I was 16 as a student ambassador, studied in Woodshole for 4 months, went to Fiji, the Cook Islands and Costa Rica. Work has sent me to the Philippines and Ireland. I went to Singapore for 2 days but need to go back because I was deathly ill there.

PHILOSOPHY

I don't like sticking to the rules and doing everything the easy/normal way, if there is such a thing as normal. I hate walking in cross walks, waiting in lines, being stuck in traffic.

"Start writing a new chapter, for if you live by the book you'll never make history." Ben Sobel

Ideals are like stars; you will not succeed in touching them with your hands, but like the seafaring man on the desert of waters, you choose them as your guides, and following them, you reach your destiny-Carl Schurz

It's hard to be realistic and idealist, but once I set a goal, I work my butt off to reach it. I want be a marine biologist, a shark expert, I will be. I want to have a family, a great husband, a beautiful house. I want to mow the lawn, shovel some snow, travel the world.

Show me that you're real and you'll see that I am.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I haven't been participating much in the last year, but I'd like to start hosting (though not many people seem to come through COllege Station) and I like to maintain my relationships with the people I've met through CS. I met up with a few people in Boston over the Christmas break. Never disappointing!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A few friends have used couch surfing. I hosted people in Boston 2 years ago, through my roommate's account. I couch-surfed on my way from Boston to Texas - LOVED my experiences.

Skydiving in Queenstown - NZ

Climbing to the top of a mountain and just enjoying the view; ...doing that during a tornado was pretty extreme as well
