About Me

After doing an Erasmus semester in Finland I'm currently traveling around Europe with some friends from said Erasmus :)

I'm studying social work in Würzburg after spending some time traveling&living in New Zealand.
During one of my summer jobs I worked as an supervisor in an institute for foreign languages. They are teaching kids, from all over the world, german and I worked and lived together with them for several months now. Love the work there and learning everyday something about new cultures, food, religion, politics or language! I even know some words in chinese/russian/gaelic now. It's been enriching my life and I'd like to keep it up!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Experienced a lot of kindness along my way so far and I learned that this is one of the best ways to travel. Meet locals, get into touch with them - make some new friends all over the world.

Interests

I love old, medieval buildings, churches (though I'm not a religious person) - I just admire the architecture, art and the history.
I like to hang around with my friends, doesn't matter what you're doing as long as you're in good company!
While traveling I prefer doing all kinds of adventurous stuff and I like to try new things. Always keep an open mind. I did caving, edge walking, jumped from the sky tower, kayaking, hiking in national parks and along the beach, dog sleding, cross country skiiing, rafting, snowshoeing, hitchhiking, stand up paddling, horse riding, climbing, live-action escape games.. I went to a haunted house (that was no fun)
Tried local cuisine. I'm a foodie, can't deny it.

Music, Movies, and Books

Current book on my night stand:
Zygmunt Bauman - Strangers at Our Door

Massive fan of Game of Thrones! Got hooked up on that and forced to read the books during my time living in Auckland. It's just addictive!

Sounds cheesy but I love Pride&Prejudice. The book as well as the movie from 2005.

Lord of the Rings - of course. One of the reasons I've been to NZ. To make everyone jealous - I've been to the Shire too and I even held the spiked mace of the Witchking of Angmar ;)

My taste in music is pretty wide ranged, literally from classic to electro, hip-hop, rock, pop, indie, alternative, reaggeton or salsa music. Pretty much listening to everything. I love going to festivals discovering new bands. Nethertheless here are some, including some german bands:
Florence + The Machine, My Chemical Romance, The Kooks, Litte Comets, Two Door Cinema Club, K.I.Z., AnnenMayKantereit, Boy, Marina and the Diamonds, The Verve, Panic! at the Disco, The Wombats, Abba, The xx, Philipp Poisel, Mumdford and Sons, Die Orsons, Adele, Marteria, Johnny Cash, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Radiohead, Arcade Fire, Milky Chance, Seeed, Damien Rice, Clueso, Deichkind, Fettes Brot, Kings of Leon, Selena Gomez, Foo Fighters, Keane, Billy Talent, Peter Fox, Die Ärzte, Mando Diao, Coldplay, Paolo Nutini, System of a Down, Katzenjammer, Katy Perry, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Kygo, Paul Kalkbrenner, Guns'n'Roses, Awolnation, The Subways, Franz Ferdinand, Lorde, Macklemore&Ryan Lewis, Sam Smith, Disclosure, Kraftklub, Wilhelm tell me, James Bay, Alt-J, Ben Howard, Flume, Casper, Chet Faker, Years&Years, Nekfeu, Willy Moon, M83, Stromae, John Newman, Hudson Taylor, The Lumineers, Radical Face, Sia, MisterWives, Tove Lo, The Weeknd .... and many more!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Left everything behind to live and travel for around 10 months in New Zealand! Visited Milford Sounds, did caving, enjoyed the city life in Auckland, meet amazing people that became my second family during my time there!

Did blind-booking with a friend last summer and ended up in Italy having a blast, meeting great people at a huge CS event there and partying on a tram in the city center of Milano.

Drove through a blizzard in Canada with a rental car to go snowshoeing. Felt pretty canadian.

Survived -39 degree in Lappland while watching the northern lights - simply stunning and I don't even know how to desrcibe the cold!
