About Me

It's hard to describe oneself. I know I'm fun and I like to dance. I'm honest, maybe too honest. I'm from Chicago (BIG CITY) but my family is from Puerto Rico (small island) so I grew up in between 2 cultures and 2 styles of living. I know how to run when I need to but I'm a beach bum at heart. My favorite dates with myself are sitting in a hammock eating a sweet mango or dancing at an electronic or Chicago deep house music show.
I love adventure and will continue to test myself and learn new things. I am ageless and will continue not to define myself by age but by how much I live. I don't know if we only have one life or many but there are things I must do and learn in this one and I will do all I can to make the most of it. Btw.....I LOVE NATURE!!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I love, love meeting people and I don't travel with a guide book, I find that the best way to learn about a country, are thru it's locals or expats that loved it so much, they decided to stay. I'm a turtle, I like to travel slow and get accustomed to the vibe of a country.
I have always loved the idea of couch surfing..... I feel so blessed to actively play a part in this concept.
Unfortunately, I have never been able to host, I usually move around too much or no space which is a shame because I love showing people around the beautiful places I choose as home.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - Tough one. There's soooooooooo much good music in the world. Honestly I really like to much. I love to dance so I really love all genres of music, except country, not so into that one. I grew up listening to Latin (Salsa, Merengue, Bachata), hip hop, solo female singers (Bjork, Tori Amos, Tracy Chapman), classical (ballet classes) and of course, Underground House Music (a Chicago Original). I would def say that Prince is my all-time #1, followed by Bjork, yummmmmmm. Ray LaMontagne, Seu Jorge, Marvin Gaye, David Bowie and Nina Simone are on the top 10 too. But I've fallen in love with Samba, Tango, Blues (I'm from Chicago), Big Band, Disco and Jazz. See, too hard!! Aggghhh! : )

Books - Anything Shel Silverstein, Everything by Anais Nin and Shantaram.

Movies - Indochine with Catherine Deneuve, Clockwork Orange, Pride & Prejudice, Star Wars (All of them), Downton Abbey (Yes, I know its a show), Urban Cowboy, Outlander (Also, Another show)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seeing one of Nina Simone's last concerts. Going to a Prince Concert. Seeing Bjork 5 times live in concert. Dancing in Bolivian Indigenous Tinku costume & dancing for an 8 hours procession/celebration for the Virgen de Guadalupe in Sucre, Bolivia. Running 3 preschools/kindergartens/after school program in 3 communities in countryside Cuilapa, Santa Rosa, Guatemala. Working with prostitutes on health, prevention and emotional support near Cuilapa, Santa Rosa. Working with 15 babies/toddlers in an orphanage in Sucre, Bolivia. IK-ing down the American River.
Getting to feed elephants in Chiang Mai ,Thailand. Rock Climbing in 3 different countries and whitewater rafting in 6.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to learn 3 more languages, white water rafting/kayaking guiding, more expertise in Scuba Diving, flying a plane, to be less fearful of heights, more graceful, poi fire dancing and the cello.

I'd love to teach whomever about dancing, art, yoga, and spanish.

Share everything.
