About Me
I am a perpetual traveller who has spent the last few years popping from place to place. This year I am moving to St. John's NL to do something I've been meaning to do since I moved to Ontario on exchange in 2008.... my Master's!
I love good food (I'm a vegetarian) great music, being around positive people and chatting about all there is to do and learn in this world. I grew up in a small coastal town in Australia so my first love is the sea. I like running, swimming, surfing, yoga and anything outdoorsy really. That's one of the reasons I can't wait to come to Newfoundland!
I'm also a big reader and I have an unhealthy attachment to pots of tea, so if you share either of those interests will be instant friends.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I had an amazing time surfing in Canada a few years back and really respect and cherish the network as a way of really getting to know a place and it's people... what a way to travel eh? How lucky are we! Now that we are perpetual travellers, I'm looking forward to making friends all over the world through couchsurfing.
I couchsurfed in Montreal and Quebec City and it was one of the major highlights of my trip. We had great parties, met so many people and even had a lovely guy drive us from Montreal to Quebec, from one host to the next, with a snowshoeing trip in between! Amazing.
Last year I drove from Amsterdam to Montenegro and stopped in to couchsurf in Sarajevo and Croatia. The house we stayed at in Sarajevo was SO beautiful and the host was even MORE beautiful. It was the most welcoming, fun time I could've wished for in that great city. Nothings beats a home away from home.

Music, Movies, and Books
So.... many..... choices.
When it comes to music, my tastes span from Folk to Blues to Rock to everywhere. On my current playlist...
Indigo Girls, Leon Russell, Rufus Wainwright, Ani DiFranco, Jessie J (girls gotta have running music), Sharon Jones, Bright Eyes, Bette Midler, Great Big Sea, Mark Ronson, TLC, Good Lovelies.
See, it's all messed up.
As for books, the list is endless but my current favourite authors include:
Tim Winton, Ivan E. Coyote, Annie Proulx
And Movies, well here's a couple of favourites:
Godfather (all), Happy Thank-you More Please,
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Climbing mountains in Montenegro with a bunch of strangers and a couple of horses. Then, cooking dinner in a remote mountain hut while teaching the caretaker English. Such a sweet trip!
Teach, Learn, Share
While I'm still in Melbourne, I'm happy to show anyone around this great city. My family have lived here for a long time and still do so I know my way around :)
What I Can Share with Hosts
Well I'm a teacher by trade so if anyone needs a hand with their English or public speaking skills, I'm there. Otherwise, I'm not bad at yoga, can make a mean Mexican feast and can share a song or two on guitar. I also make really good raw chocolate if you're interested in raw dessert! Who isn't interested in dessert??
I can speak a little bit of Mandarin, but would love to learn French and will be making it my mission while I'm in Canada this time.
