About Me

Instagram: /melisaa_bz

2020 UPDATE: I was a master's student in Ankara, but now I moved to Istanbul as I started my job at a university. Unfortunately I can't host anyone due to the reasons related to my rented house. I don't live in a friendly neighborhood and the building I live in has strict some rules that I don't like to bound by. I hope to change my apartment after the pandemic is over.

I was an Erasmus exchange student in Heidelberg/Germany in 2017/2018 winter semester.
I like learning new cultures, get new experience, taste different foods, working as a volunteer for make the world better, meet with different people from all over the world.

I love kids, animals, eating, reading 🍹✈️🐶👫💃

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like meet with different people from all over the world and travelling. CouchSurfing makes both :)

At 2017 Christmas, I attended CS party in Madrid, I had unforgettable moments in there! Having the spirit of a Couchsurfer is the best way to live through this world ❤️

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I don't have a favourite music genre. I listen to the music I like whether it's genres like rock, pop, classical or electronic.

Movies: I really like mind-blowing types of movies and those are my favourites: Butterfly Effect, Shutter Island, Fight Club, Mr Nobody, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Truman Show and all movies by Darren Aronofsky, David Lynch, Kubrick, Roman Polanski

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I had always wanted to be a volunteer in abroad. Words can't explain how happy I am when I got accepted EVS (European Voluntary Service) programme. I was going to work voluntarily at a NGO in a small town in Sicily, Italy. However, things didn't go quite as planned. At the beginning, I could barely communicate with local people. Also, I was so sorry to see the disabled rehabilitation center that I worked couldn't provide enough facilities for them. After a while, I start communicating with them as soon as I completed my A1 Italian course. I wasn't able to change entire system of course, but I felt that things go well with my help.

I thought I couldn't spend my summer such bad conditions, but I was sad to leave Sicily. I travelled most of the touristic cities in Italy after I finished my volunteering. It is hard to believe but I realized I love Sicily more than those touristic cities.

This wasn't the only amazing thing I've done, but also the experience which shaped my personal philosophy of travelling.

Teach, Learn, Share

I prefer saying "learn" and "share" to "teaching". Even the times that I thought I am teaching, it turned out to be I was the one who is the learner. I wholeheartedly believe that good conversation and stories are the best things to share with. I personally like to give notecards with a photograph of the city that I live in and write my appreciation on them the day I leave.

What I Can Share with Hosts
