Über mich
Hi I'm Melody and I come from a town with a cheese name, Gorgonzola. I'm 20 and an au pair, a babysitter basically. I'm living in Portland (OR) with a super nice family, and that's why I can't host :(
my adventure as an au pair is almost over, in August I’m going back to Italy but before leaving the Staes I have a few weeks where I want to travel the east coast.
I’m going to Niagara Falls, Boston, Washington DC and New York. I’m super pumped for this trip, but at the same time it’s means that my year is over and I have to go back to study.
The States gave me so many incredible memories, I visited so many places and met amazing people. Traveling show you how big and at the same time small the world is. I met an italian girl in Portland Oregon, and our homes in Italy are just 15 minutes apart. We go to the same pizza place too! And I met her here for the first time.
Traveling also made me create international friendships that will last forever. It also made me realize how many amazing people I still haven’t met.
In July I went to Mexico alone and it was great!
I was more open minded and open to meet new people.
I don’t know if you can consider it as a philosophy but once a good friend of mine told me that the world is just a flight away. I really liked that. Nothing is too far, it’s just a flight away.
Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin
I'm on Couchsurfing because I want to live the world, not just see it, I want to go places and be amazed but at the same time feel at home. And having someone from the town telling you stories about their life there or suggesting you good places to go that are not touristic is fantastic. I want to be more than a simple tourist doing touristic things. There’s nothing wrong with that but I want to do one step more.
Also I don't have much money. Being an au pair doesn’t pay that well.
Interessen
My main interest is traveling, I know it’s not really original, but it’s a dream of mine and bit by bit it’s happening.
I love to eat, not to cook so much, but I LOVE to eat.
I think that’s it, food and travel are the most thing I’m interested in right now.
I also love playing board games, I think it’s a great way to make new friends. I always carry with uno cards, you never know when you will need them.

Musik, Filme und Bücher
Honestly I like a bit of everything, nothing specific. I’ve always been the friend that loved listening to some else’s music, read a book or watch a movie that a friend loved.
The last book I read was ‘where’d you go Bernadette’
Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe
I took a bus from London to Amsterdam, it was a 11 hours journey and I went under the English Channel.
Lehren, lernen, teilen
I can teach some italian. I feel that everyone knows italian though (pizza, pasta, spaghetti are international words).
I can learn everything, it doesn’t mean I will be the best student, but that I’m open learning. It fascinates me what people are interested in and if you are passionate about something I’m sure you will be a great teacher.
I can share embarrassing stories. I have plenty unfortunately. You can have a laugh in my despair.
Was ich mit Gastgebern teilen kann
I would love to say that I’m a great cook but I’m not. I would describe myself as an average cook, doing the maximum with the minimum effort.
I can share stories, tips on travel if I’ve been in that place and I can share my story.
I can lend you my ear too if you like to talk, I’m more of a listener than a talker.
