About Me
CURRENT MISSION
"I travel not to go anywhere, but to simply go." -Robert Louis Stevenson
ABOUT ME
I am just looking to get out and see the world. I'd like to emigrate to the UK eventually, for no other reason than it's something to do while I'm young enough (or unattached enough) to do something. (That was a lot of "something"s in 2 sentences...sorry). :D
PHILOSOPHY
I am determined to remain human. I feel that a lot of modern "conveniences" have started to chip away at our humanity, at our experience of what it means to be a whole person. We don't necessarily have to think for ourselves anymore, and I don't like that. I like to use my brain, and I want to make sure that the remaining experience I have in life is a human one. (As opposed to a machine or a number)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I couchsurfed over a year ago, and it was the best trip. And, now, after a challenging year, I am excited to start hosting!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Surfed twice at Sam Grosso's place. We're old friends, tho, so I don't know if that really counts. His is a lovely place to vacation.
I also went to Scotland and couchsurfed in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen. My hosts were such cool people, so warm and open. Now I spread the word of CS as much as possible.
Interests
Oh, man...I'm interested in history, and food, and good grammar, and music...sometimes art...taking lots of pictures and capturing as many memories as possible. I got introduced to dancing Tango while in Edinburgh, so I came home and started ballroom dancing lessons, including swing, salsa, cha cha, waltz, foxtrot, etc. And I'm getting more and more into cooking whole foods and natural, hippy-type things.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books-wise, I want to get into the classics, I like historical fiction and biographies. Really, I just like to know things.
Movies...so many to name. I'm a sucker for rom-coms. I do like movies that make you think. Most comedies are lovely. Gangs of New York, House of Flying Daggers, Hunger, The Holiday, Kung Fu Hustle, LOTR, The Transporter, Drive, Love Actually, Green Street Hooligans, all the Disney classics, Young Guns, Top Gun, Amelie.
Music... doesn't everyone enjoy a variety these days? My two all-time favorites are hip-hop (as opposed to "rap") and hardcore rock. Thanks to Pandora, I've recently discovered The Shanghai Restoration Project and Break of Reality. Underoath is officially still my favorite band, though. :D
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hmmm...I think the most amazing thing I've done is try to step out of my comfort zone. I auditioned for a chance to sing in Rome. Didn't think I'd make it, but was accepted on the spot. (As a result, I shared the stage with Jim Caviezel, Michael York, and Louis Gossett, Jr.) Decided I didn't like my job, so took the steps to change my career. I've decided to actively choose how my life turns out, and having the guts to do that, I think, is pretty amazing.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm a singer, but there are huge holes in my music theory knowledge. I like trying new recipes. Recently made Krumkake for the first time. Learning to work the iron was an interesting experience. (The krumkake iron, that is, not a regular one....)
