About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learn French.

ABOUT ME

I love meeting people, and I believe you can never have too many friends (though it does keep you busy).

I am now living in Tasmania with my delightful boyfriend (who's an amazing chef), and trying to decide where my life will take me next... but we all know travel will feature pretty heavily. I can't answer the question "where do you want to travel to?" because the answer is "everywhere".

I have degrees in science (geololgy, to be specific), and multimedia, but have found myself currently working retail due to a shortage of geo jobs. I'm also undertaking a teaching degree to (metaphorically) tackle the secondary school kids of Tasmania.

PHILOSOPHY

Respect, first and foremost. For everyone and everything.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've now surfed Paris, UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, Japan, Germany and Iceland. I love meeting new people, and this is such a great way to do it.

I've hosted some when I lived in Melbourne, and in Singleton. I'm now living in a house just out of Hobart with my boyfried who has never done couchsurfing and is only just getting into the swing of things. More than happy for catch-ups and friends, though!

Music, Movies, and Books

Way too hard for me to narrow it down.

I'm currently working my way through a "Top 100 Books of All Time" list, which basically means I'm reading books that I've always meant to, but never got around to (ie, A Clockwork Orange, Perfume, To Kill a Mockingbird, etc etc etc).

My music tastes can be pretty varied, but I generally go for cruisy music, or what would normally be classified as "folk". However, a perusal of my ipod will show some metal, hip hop, electronic, pop, classical, jazz...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I tend to find the most basic things amazing, such as watching the sun rise over the early morning fog on an early start at work in the Hunter Valley, or watching squirrels playing in the snow in Montreal. Some more exciting things might include:

Digging a 4-wheel-drive out of sand dunes during a uni field trip.

Enjoying a stick of chewing-gum with some old Korean ladies who couldn't speak a word of English, while we waited for a chair lift to open for the day. (though, in actual fact, I detest chewing gum, mainly because so many people chew with their mouths open (I spent too many years putting up people doing this in my face in retail jobs to turn a blind eye), AND so many people don't throw it in the bin when done! As you can see, I'm passionate about my hatred of chewing gum)

Swimming in hot springs in a secret cave with locals on top of Pamukkale, Turkey.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to knit, paint (though not very well), mosaic, make jewelry, draw a map, or create a really awesome powerpoint presentation.

I would love to learn how to play the guitar. And another language (I'm currently working my way through French).

I'm not the greatest cook, but make a really yummy spaghetti bolognaise.

I can explain the basic geology of a cliff face to you, but I imagine that doesn't appeal to everyone.
