Overview
About Me
* * * PLEASE READ ENTIRE PROFILE * * *
1) I have a cat roommate.
2) I recently moved. I'm still settling down.
3) Please put time and emotional labour into your profile and requests, and get references from friends on CS who can vouch for you.
I'm a social justice oriented translator, working as an interpreter in various social service settings, aspiring to become an anti-violence educator.
I studied sociology and worked with immigrants at a non-profit for a couple of years.
I feel kinship with all residents of our planet, so I advocate for peace, freedom, and justice for all humans, animals, and the earth.
I try to consume less and reduce my negative impact on this planet. So I'm a vegan and a freegan who recycles and bikes around :)
I'm an agnostic, close to atheism, but I do have a spiritual side, and I enjoy talking about wise teachings and interesting cultures.
I love hiking and I used to do rock climbing but I'm a little lazy and not very disciplined so I can't easily sustain healthy habits and activities. Same is true for yoga and meditation unfortunately. I'm trying to get back into these habits and treat myself better with better food and other nourishments.
I enjoy sports. Both watching and playing. I'd say soccer and tennis are my two favourites, but I'll give any sport a chance :)
My worldview is influenced by anarchism, ecofeminism, communism, anti-colonialism, primitivism, and critiques of modernity and human civilization.
My place is 420-friendly and I like feeding people my home-cooked vegan food :)
Of course, my place is also queer-friendly! LGBTQIA2S+ guests are more than welcome 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
Update-Nov 4, 2022:
Thanks for reading so far. Please send me a song with your request so that I know you've read my profile. Any genre will do. Just something you love or been really into lately. I enjoy all kinds of music :)
And don't forget to read the home section on my profile too!
*I'm making a playlist out of the song recommendations by Couchsurfers. Check it out: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6nBDRbxWzpfcKUAQ0XjRsg?si=453879de7b844bb4
If you're a refugee claimant in Canada, please know that there are free services available for you to find housing and employment. Here is the number for COSTI (416-658-1600) and the YMCA newcomer services website (https://newcomersincanada.ca/). Good luck with everything. Peace!
Update-Feb 13, 2023:
In your request, please also tell me about your politics and worldview briefly, and share your thoughts on your government and political leaders.*
For instance, if you're from Hungary, tell me your thoughts about Orban. If you're from India, let me know how you feel about Modi. If you're from Israeli occupied Palestinian land, please share your perspective on Zionism, etc.
If you're a zionist or any other kind of nationalist, conservative, or right-winger, don't bother to send a request, because we wouldn't get along well.
Israeli antifascists and peace activists are more than welcome of course! We don't choose where we are born after all :) ❤️
*: Many of us live under authoritarian and oppressive regimes, and I don't want my request to become a barrier for anyone, so if you are worried about potential backlash for criticizing your own country, we can find a safe and creative way to talk about this. One option is having a phone or video call :)
One last tip: Try to send requests for 1-2 nights initially. Many CSers (including myself) don't prefer committing to long stays before meeting in person and seeing how the vibe is. If we click well, we can extend your stay. Take care! ^.^
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To be a part of a global community and solidarity :)
I met wonderful people here and I'm very grateful!
Interests
I love meeting people from all over the world and have deep conversations about the earth, cultures, politics, religion and spirituality, philosophy, social justice, activism, relationships, and so much more!
I am solo poly and a relationship anarchist. I am always interested in talking about polyamory, ENM (ethical non-monogamy), and any other approach to relationships than what is normative.
My partner Angie lives in Niagara, but she visits often, so maybe you'll get to meet her too :)
